Northeast - (URGENT) Good bike stores in New York City and Conneticut

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Sorry if i spelt conneticut wrong. I dont live in this area. Actually, i live in Toronto. But I am going to the places listed in the title for about 2-3 weeks in 3 days. While im there i might as well check out some bike places (I need some cheap gloves for a good american cheap price). So here could you list any good places in the areas i listed with good prices. A review wouldnt be bad either.

Thanks

Not sure about "cheap" in NYC, but drainyoo listed some solid LBS. Bay Ridge Bicycles in Brooklyn has a good reputation with a lot of locals.

Everything in america seems to be cheaper than the stuff in Canada. So i guess it depends on what you think is cheap. I think 50 bucks for gloves is to much.

Do a search under my user name for last 6 months (I think it was titled "visiting NY"). I visited NY around February this year and started a similar thread. The BFers gave lots of useful info in there.

EDIT:
Here you go.

You don't mention where you are going in Connecticut, but these may help:

http://www.ctbikeroutes.org/pages/shops.html
http://www.bikerag.com/bike_shops_ct.htm

I highly recommend:

Pedal Power in Middletown
Zane's in Branford
The Bikers Edge in Bristol

Good Luck

You're in probably the most expensive part of the state, so 'cheap' may be hard to find.
I haven't been to any of the shops in that part of the state in a long time (used to live out there), but check out:

Bethel Cycles (closest to where you will be)
Any of the shops in Westport, Norwalk, Danbury, Stamford, Fairfield, Greenwich...

Chris's Spoke and Wheel at 2335 East Main Street in Bridgeport is cheap and reliable and good for old parts, and Chris is a good guy who does work well at a reasonable price.

Just a little outside NYC, in Paramus, NJ you'll find Campmor, a large sporting goods store that a carries a good selection of bike gear at discounted prices. You can get an idea of what they have and their prices from their website. www.campmor.com

Woah guys, i got to the house this morning. Its humongous. And to make it better, he has 3 acres of pure forest in his backyard. Today i went riding on this old steel mtb. It was hard obviously, but i found tons of great places there. If i had my bike, i would be awesome. But either way, its great, lots of rocks, tree, fallen trees, stumps and small ravines. ITs beautiful. Going to NYC tomorow for some sightseeing. So If any of you guys see a 5-4 foot tall chinese person wearing a t shirt :D say hi :D
