Road Cycling - Man, Was It Warm Today!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Today, I dressed for my ride based on how I felt during yesterday's ride and the predicted showers. Tights, rain pants and two layers on top.
I took one step outside and had to take off a layer. The pedicted high was low 60's, but it was near 70 when I left at 11:00am.
Since I haven't been able to put on any real long distance cycling to build up my endurance to summer levels, my legs were not up to more than 30 miles, which I was able to accomplish in a rather slow, stately 2.5 hours.
What an absolutely great day. Unfortunately, today is the last of the good weather. Tomorrow, the high is supposed to be 55, but from then on we are looking at high 20's to low 30's for at least the next week.
I can't complain, though, as we have had two weeks of great weather at the beginning of winter.

Between you and Ms. Vicki I find myself pining for more moderate climes.
Sigh!

Yesterday, I was wearing shorts and it was 72 outside, today it's 30 and about to start sleeting.

When it's the middle of winter here and it's been raining or otherwise precipitating for three weeks straight, believe me, I'm tempted to move back.
But then spring comes, and I forget. :D

After a long season of racing, the last thing I wanted to do in January was hit the backroads of Wisconsin.
There's a reason you take time off and hit the mag trainer.

Trekrider, I know what you're talking about. Here in michigan it's been unseasonably warm since new year's eve day and then finishing up with yesterday, the highs were in the 50's to low 60's!! Just amazing, so I got a ride in on new years eve day, and also on new years day, plus yesterday, it just felt great and made me wish sooo much that it was spring and getting warmer instead of colder, so I could get outside and ride more!!..I'm like you, not going that fast or far, because of condition, but that's ok for this time of year..

yea, I got a really good ride in yesterday, about 38 miles. it was gorgeous. a little overcast at first, but the sun came out eventually. maryland weather sure is strange...some winters its like 10 degrees, and some times its like today-70 degrees and sunny.

 Ten degrees F in Prescott Arizona this morning, up to a high of 40.
Maybe should consider a move east...?? Rode the rollers.
62 degrees on Friday in Chicago. Today - a blizzard and the deep-freeze set for the rest of the week  Managed to get 25 miles in the garage though :)
Went out early yesterday am about 65 degrees and
humid, about 5 miles into the ride here comes cold
front, 15 degree temp drop, pouring rain and windy.
As they say here it texas, if you don't like the weather
wait an hour, it'll change.
btw, 26 F this morning when I left for work (after the
40min on the rollers).

I agree this weather has been very UP and down. The temperature totally
flucts during the day, afternoon, and evening...
Its equally hard on both a woman and a man to layer up on the bike gear.
The weather reports...well at least 50 % on the dime is not too bad.
Juicy...

-4 degrees here in north part of Colorado and light snow. I wish the weather was warmer. But we are due for some moisture.
