He was unusual for a comic in that he was extremely bright, and extremely honest, and he respected his audience enough to assume they were smart enough to "get" his humor, and mature enough to handle his honesty.

Lord knows, in the era of George Bush Jr., American badly needs people who are both intelligent and honest.

If you're looking for a politician with both of those qualities, you'll be searching a long, long time.

RIP, George, the world is poorer for your passing.

I know one personally, but he's no longer a politician. Take that as you will..

Not sure how I feel. The skit was brilliant, but I got the impression that he was coasting for 30 years after that, using that one skit for his meal ticket.

Definitely a favorite... and yes very intelligent.

I always loved his darwinish take on life.

I think I'll give Napalm and Silly Putty a second read.

Years from now, I see some blown minds if they watch his good stuff.

Yeah, but not at ages 3.5 and 2, please. All we need is them making even more sense in their insubordination and pointing out Daddy's daily hypocrisy and oxymoronic behavior.

They're going to have to discover the Carlin stuff on their own, just like I had to. It's much more subversive that way.

“ The most unfair thing about life is the way it ends. I mean, life is tough. It takes up a lot of your time. What do you get at the end of it? A Death! What’s that, a bonus? I think the life cycle is all backwards. You should die first, get it out of the way. Then you live in an old age home. You get kicked out when you’re too young, you get a gold watch, you go to work. You work forty years until you’re young enough to enjoy your retirement. You do drugs, alcohol, you party, you get ready for high school. You go to grade school, you become a kid, you play, you have no responsibilities, you become a little baby, you go back into the womb, you spend your last nine months floating…and you finish off as an orgasm!" George Carlin (1937-2008)

RIP, buddy. You had the right idea.

I had this album when I was a kid. It was a gift from my dad, who put two conditions on it: 1) I couldn't play it when my mom might hear it; and 2) I was not to repeat any of those lines in the house.

Carlin was a freaking hate monger. He didn't like anything, especially his audience. They were who he ridiculed to their faces, and they thought it was some one else he was talking about. I watched his '70 or so show. What a f*kwad. Like some one else said, "Stretch that one gig as far as it will go." Damn.

Yeah, the world will be lost without George. Not. Maybe Bush will be, but then when yer lookin fer nookaler bombs, how kin ya have time fer ani thin els.

Oh man, I'm going to get beat for saying that. Oh man.

Get a brain, pee poe.

Sadly, some BFers are born without a Sense of Humor. It's a birth defect, more commonplace than you might think.

Irony.

But you keep saying: 'Go F yourself ahole' followed by 'peace out'. Now that's irony.

That's the difference between NY and Red States: after we say F you, nuff said.

Not that I would ever say that to anybody on BF. There's too much BF Love here. That being said, you're such a Fred, I need my medication.
