Whats going on guys? A friend of mine and I are thinking about starting up a shop ride and I want to get your opinion about it. The ride would be 7am friday mornings located at Knock Knolls or Saw Wee Kee forest preserve. The twist is, it would be a single speed only ride. The ride would be 'sponsered' by Bicycles etc of naperville Illinois (http://www.bicyclesetc-il.com/)and is open to all skill and fitness levels.
The reason I am posting this here is because I would like to see what type of intrest there is and if people would actually show up. Please, PM me with suggestions or simply take the pole
no signle speed action for me, yet. plus, i have this work thing on Fridays. later.

Ok- so I'm a jerk. I'm in Madison and voted "no" purely for geographical reasons. Hate me if you must. BUT I also dabble in fat tire riding (and drinking) and have two questions:
1) If you really want people to show make it open to anyone. I can understand if you want to promote SS riding in your area, but I wonder if you'll have better luck inviting those with geared rigs to ride with you and show them how the guys on SS rigs are tearing it up. By inviting only SS riders a lot of the more casual ("hey I want to see what riding with a group could be like") riders would be turned off.
2) 7am on Fridays... Really? That's a tough time for anyone to show up to anything.

SS action, you can count me in! 7AM is too late for me though, I need to be at work by 8AM. I could do 6AM at SWK or 5AM at KK.

I would love to but with family and work time would be tough. I run a 1 X 9, so I'd keep it one and go.

Well, Ill see what I can do to accommodate you guys. Im always willing to go biking early in the am. I do have a hard time believeing that only 4 people are intrested in this ride, and I know 43 others have viewed this forum, so lets hear some more opinions.
What else are you guys thinking of?

Archie was telling me about mtb rides 'sponsored' by Bicycles Etc. that were on Sunday mornings last year...did that stop happening? Either way, I'll only be in naperville for another week. So, I guess you can count me out.

I live in Milwaukee and don't get out of work until 8am, BUT I wanted to say that it's great to read some MTB threads here. Nice change of pace from the usual mega-climb centuries that are so popular (yeah, you know who you are. :D )

I used to work graveyard too, the beauty of that schedule is that I had the trails all to myself in the mornings.

Well, KK is probably soaked to the bone, but I might risk driving up to Beverly on Thursday if it stays dry. PM me if you are interested in joining me.
