Bicycle Mechanics - Just Wondering

Does anyone here on the forum own a NEXT mountain bike.I'm new at mountain biking so I bought a Next bike.I have it in the shop now getting a good tune-up but I have ridden it a little.I think it will be a good bike and was just wondering if anyone else has one and maybe give me some pros and cons about them. I don't personally have a NEXT, but I have done a lot of work on them at the shop where I work. They are the low end beginning bike for anyone who is new to cycling. The parts tend to basic replacement stuff, so they may not hold up to lots of use but all in all it is a bicycle and you're spinning so that's all that matters in my book..... just curious is it a grip shift? and does it have dual suspension or just front?

Yeah, it's a grip shift and it is a full suspension bike, which are probably the two things that appealed to me most.But I am a beginner and not really sure of all the things to look for when buying a MTB.Thx for your info.

for sure you won't be able to do any "real" mountain biking with that bike, considering its weight and low quality frame, but it should be fine for tooling around on streets and smooth hard packed trails.

You started out right by at least getting a shop to tune it up for you, for safety reasons. It is a fine bike to get started with and to see if you are going to keep riding and enjoy the sport. I do agree completly with deliriou5 about keeping it on the streets or fine packed trails. Some people will say that having this bike might persuade you to not ride anymore if you have problems with the bike. My story consist of buying a Roadmaster Mt. Bike from Wally World about a year ago and trying cycling to see if I would continue on with it. I also became a self mechanic working on the bike and upgrading parts such as wheels, brakes and others odds and ends for fun. A year later the Roadmaster is gone and I have a nice Road Bike that I built myself with 105 components and Park tools. Now I'm very proficient with bike maintenance and I ride 3 to 4 days a week, when it's warm :( . Make sure you check everything before you go ride each time and welcome to the forums.
