Yea, I had my bike stolen years ago from the library. It was chained up with
the link lock. However, someone must have been so desparate. Poop on them.
No good crooks. I was studying for a final exam in the fall. Thank goodness the weather was nice. I walked home....6 miles away. I understand the
fustration.....
Believe me.

The damn thief broke into my car to steal mine once. I never will leave my bike in or on a car again unless I can lock it to the vehicle otherwise I find something I can lock it to.

One time my bike and my sister's bike got stolen right out of our garage. We went to this place where the police find abandoned bikes and we got them back. My handlebar was bent in half though.

I try to not let my bike out of sight..In the garage I have a u bolt in the floor and use like 4 cable locks to secure three seperate bikes to the bolt and all together. Hope a crook would be discouraged and give up for something easier.
Think insurance on bikes is full of loopholes. To really secure a bike you need use a kryponite lock?
On my best bike I have it registered with the "National bike registry." Anyone else done that? I have a little decal under the top tube. The service can be found on the web..When the bike is on the roof carrier, I have a chain and lock securing the bike to carrier's track..

Curious..My question about the National BIke registry..Supposed to track down stolen bikes, should they be recovered.. Anyone used it? I have on my best road bike..They register your bike for 10-30 (?, 30 years needed?) Does it work. Same say police get so cynical about tracking down bike ownership and eager to sell it in auctions?

I store my bikes in my garage. Keep it in the house, I can't bolt it to the floor. ........ Unlike the Bontiger tire ad with the hottie sleeping with the bike, so far- only once, during the first week of ownership of my hotie Klein bike, did I store it in the bedroom.
What's the purpose, can't chain it to a water bed!.
My question..I have like two one inch thick chains which tie two bike together and collectively to a bolt cemented in the floor.......
Did your crooks take the time to cut through a one inch cable or take a sludge hammer to a u lock.? Are thick cable enough protection.?

I've had two bikes stolen before. One was a Mongoose Solution Pro BMX bike I had for about 5 years. Stolen from the library... totally sucked, I basically lived with that bike 24/7. I found one on eBay (a little different.. probably a year newer) recently and was able to acquire it. Should be coming in tomorrow!

The other bike was stolen right off my front porch last summer (covered with shrubs and up and away from the road). It was a mountain bike, Gary Fisher Wahoo.

My Dyno Air has been stolen three times, and currently resides in my garage. Funny stories about how I got the bike back all three times, but what do I really expect living on the southside of Houston? While we're on the topic, anyone know where I could find out what parts came stock on the bike? The handlebars and brakes were changed, and they also removed the decals, need a new kit. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
-SpydiRTEK

o yeah. got mine ganked by a couple of hooligans that followed me home one time. story time.........

I was coming back from a ride and these two older kids(they were about 19 and i was about 16 at the time) saw me at a stop light and started asking me what kind of tricks i could do and crap like that. After about a minute into the conversation i realized they weren't interested in what i could do. They were interested in the bike. So i froggered my way across the 4 lane street and started pumpin like no tomorrow. They were about 4 car lengths behind me and i took an alley to try and loose them. But those presistent f#$kers were right behind me. 2 more blocks and i was home. i darted down my dad's street and hopped up the curb. Giving a quick glance behind me a rounded the corner to my dad's ally. I get to the back gate and I grab my keys out of my pocket. I had so much adrenaline running through me i fumbled the keys like a B-string football player. Just as i hear the keys slip into the tumbler the two mischief makers show up. At this point im trying to open the gate with one hand and holding onto my top tube with the other. The fat kid plays look out and the more built kid grabs the handle bars and asks me if he could 'try it out'. So i replied the way any sensible teenager would and i said "@!#$ off!". Apparently that wasnt the response he was looking for and he gave me a stiff jab in the mouth and started trying to yank my bike away from me but i wanst giving up. After a good 3 minute struggle i ripped the bike from his grip and threw it at him as hard as i could by the top tube. He crouched down to try and block the burly cro-mo frame but none the less the headset spun and he got a handle bar in the face and a crank arm in his side. And with blood spuewing from my mouth and fat lip i shouted take it you piece of @!#$. The bastards took off and i went inside to call the cops. When the cop showed up i explaned to him what happened and he casually lit a cigarette and said, "what a bunch of f@#!%rs." After about 5 minutes of b.s.ing with the cop i heard "yeah we got em." over the radio. I had my bike back in about 20 minutes and 6 months later the 2 hooligans were given 6 months of probation and 72 hours community service after our court date.

hows that for a stolen bike story.

dang i wish i could know the kids that yanked my bike i'd go still their friends walmart mongoose. I guess the olny reason the cops found my bike was b/c the kids didnt want it anymore because it had no pegs for them to carry bout 4 or 6 of their best friends to the store on. stupid lil turds better b glad i didnt catch em !!!!!!!!
