Touring - Frost River

Does anyonehave any real photo's of frost river saddlebags or panniers, I don't trust the cartoons.

I'm looking for something like that myself. Everything I find I like is so expensive and so far the cheaper ones, just don't look as good to me.

Just interested, why would you consider these rather than Carradice or Acorn bags.

I'm just weighing all my options and want a decient picture befor i make up my mind, but all in all, from what you have told me I'll probably end up going with Carradice.

That sounds sensible.

FYI here is a link to a good description of how to mount a Carradice saddlebag. If you get one
of the larger bags you'll probably need a rack/support for it.

Carradice is great kit.
The only bags/panniers of which I know that are still in use from the 50s and 60's (I used to live in England). You wont regret the purchase.

I have a Frost River Banana bag and I like it a lot. Maybe you can get one off ebay.

Someone on this site recommended Acorn Bags a few months ago. I ordered a saddle bag from them for my Hetchins and am extremely happy with it.
The only problem is that since he makes his own bags, he only takes so many orders a month. When he reaches his quota for the month, he stops taking orders. So if you want one of his bags, you have to order it on the first of the month. It then takes several weeks to get your order.

I had initially talked to the people at Fox River. I just had a bad feeling about them, for a reason I can't really explain. I guess my gut was right.

I got this Banana Bag from Rivendell a few years back. I think these bags were made by Duluth.

I went by there today and they have indeed closed. It was all of a sudden according to the neighbors. No forwarding address or phone number. What used to be their space is now being renovated for some future tenant.

I wonder if copyright infringement did them in. The guy that started Frost River use to work for Duluth Packs. The Frost River designs were identical with the exception of different materials used. On the cycling front, he turned around and offered Grant's designs from Rivendell at lower prices with nothing but different names and tags. I'm just guessing, but it seems ominous to me...
