Bicycle Mechanics - Switching to Disc Brakes..........

I have a Cannondale F900 I bought in Anchorage in 96' or 97'. It hasn't been rode regularly since 98'. My qauestion is can i switch it over to disc brakes? If so, what is involved and parts needed?

1: On your forks and left rear of the frame there should be a place to attach the caliper part of the disk brake.
2: The wheel hubs should have threads on the left side (if sat on the bike) to attach a disk.

It would probably work out too expensive though. You may just want to sell the bike and get one that has them or get the best brakes avaialble for the mounts that are already on it.

I don't think that frame has caliper tabs on it. There is an adaptor arm but it is over$100. Figure $300+ for a set of wheels and $180(mechanical Avids) If the fork does not have the tabs you will need a new fork. Usually best to look at new bikes.
Also, the drivetrain will be somewhat outdated. Not a huge problem but if you break a highend eight speed shifter, you will only be able to replace it with a lowend one(all that is made now) Keeping highend would require a switch to ninespeed.
If you have not ridden it in much in five years I would be disinclined to spend a bunch of money on it.

Thanks Guys. It was just a curiosity question. If it had been feesible I might have thought about it. I have been out of the 'loop' for quite sometime now. Its like starting all over again.
