Well,

I started a new project at work today that brings me back to a facility that I’ve occupied in the past. This facility has a nice shower room and lockers that all employees can use anytime during the workday and early evenings. It’s close to the beach and is just very conducive to exercising and riding my bike. That part I like, what I don’t like is that my cubicle is located in the basement of one of the buildings at this facility. Absolutely no windows and except for the phone no links to the outside world. Not even Internet access. It can be raining, sunny or nuclear fallout and I wouldn’t even know it. What a miserable place! Nothing but wall-to-wall concrete. I think the only thing that’s going to get me through this is my lunchtime rides.

Well y'know, I'd miss the rain and the sunshine, but the nuclear fallout? Nah.

I sympathize. It's nice to be able to see the outside world while you work. Once upon a time I worked in the texturizing department of a textile mill. No windows and the constant howl of those machines -- I almost turned naturist. My present job allows me to see outdoors at all times. It's great most of the time (not today; 11 degrees wind chill!).

The riding sounds awesome!

Location sounds cruddy... The first offie I worked in (in Australia) had an awesome view across the Brisbane River. Well, I should say the management and executives had an awesome view across the river. I was in a cube farm in the middle of the floor with no view at all. And my latest project in Chicago has me working in the middle of a powerplant; noisy, dusty and very claustrophobic. Feel for ya, man...

I've had good luck in my last few offices. In Australia, it was a view of a golf course, then across the river. Now it's back to a golf course again, with a snippet of Centennial Airport; nice in the summer when it's all green. Would be especially nice if I actually got to spend any time there!

Today was the first day (hopefully first of many) that I rode my bike at work during my lunch hour. Nice way to break up the day and take in some fresh air. Oh yeah, the riding went well.

BTW: is everyone getting the same Google ad in this thread? After careful analysis of Bobsled's original post the ad-bot suggests "Fine chain of bike hotels" with the description "A superb biking vacation with fine wines and good cooking"!

Not bad IMHO :D:D!
