Folding Bikes - wireless computers on 16" wheels

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Anyone use a wireless computer on a dahon curve or another bike with 16" wheels? I'd like to get a not so expensive one for fun mostly, and noticed that you have to be within 60-70mm of the transmitter, (from wheel to handlebars). The small wheels makes it just around 70mm away.
Anyone using one with success?
I'm using Cateye's Strada Wireless on my Mini, no problems (except the LED torch tends to swamp the signal).

i use a Strada wireless on my Dahon Curve. No problems. The Strada seems to have a longer range than the other Cat Eyes.

Me too - Cateye Strada on my SL. No problems
Mr. Brown do you remember what number you punched into the computer at set up for the 16" Big Apples? Is 1260 correct? Just want to be sure.

Hi owenfinn, my Strada wireless is set to 1287 for the 16-inch Curve Big Apples. I measure the circumference using the rolling-on-the-ground method because none of the standard measurements in the included instruction sheet has 16-inch wheels which were 2-inch wide.
So far quite accurate (I own 2 other Stradas on a 26-inch MTB and a 20-inch MU P24 and they correspond quite closely). Your number does not seem too far away from mine.

Thanks guys. I bought the Strada just now. Found it for a good price from Lickton's.
It got a good review in Bicycling Magazine and seems to be the favorite of a lot of folks on BF.
