Hello, i've recently started commuting/riding a bike. I tried ridethecity.com to get a safe route to throgs neck in the bronx but it takes me through some expressways... i don't know how safe that is. So my question is what is the safest way into the bronx to throgs neck?

Sounds like a difficult route to plan, but it seems that it will get better once a few planned greenways get completed. Have you seen these maps?

Willis Avenue Bridge to Bruckner Blvd (NOT BRUCKNER EXPWY), this runs parrellel to it. I would suggest
googling a route and choose avoid highways. There are other options that are parellel to bruckner and quieter.
By doing that you will zig and zag a bit.
In anycase Stay on Bruckner Blvd about 4.5 miles and bear to the right when it turns. This will get you to the right place.
You may/will have to work on the Willis Bridge aspect as they are doing some work on the bike/ped ramp.
Good Luck
