I'm going to be riding my first Courage Classic this year, 157 miles over three days through the Rockies. The ride benefits The Children's Hospital in Denver, a not-for-profit hospital and network of Urgent Care Pediatric clinics. This has a special place in my heart because I work on an ambulance, and I know that pediatric calls are the most difficult we run, it's a huge relief to get kids of any age to definitive care tailored just for them.
The other half of this is, of course, the ride. I have to say I'm bit intimidated, every time I train at altitude I get my a--- I mean my lunch handed to me. If anyone has advice on training, encouragement, warnings, or has ridden the route and wants to post some spoilers, I'd appreciate it.
I'm riding with Out Spokin, a gay bicycle club. Our mission is "Philanthropy by Bicycle." If you feel the need to contribute to giving Children's the support it needs to continue it's care and research for kids all over the Rocky Mountain region, or you want to contribute to my team's mission of positive gay and lesbian visibility, here is my website, please consider donating a day's worth of coffee money:
