Road Bike Racing - I'm going to start a thread & do it in the wrong forum

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I don't have the time or attention span for multiple forums.
I'm racing on the track tonight for the first time ever.

It's ok. You're a road bike racer, so any thread you post here can qualify as of interest to road bike racing.

Assuming you did a class prior? Track's a different animal with different etiquette than road. Very good instructional video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGnLDr6jRSI).

Track. Most. Fun. Ever.
And the track sub-forum is basically dead, so posting here is about all you can do.
last time i rode on the track was at kissena, back in the early 90s.
i have no clue why i have yet to try the one that's only 5 miles away?

So on track races you pull on the winners handle bar to congratulate him? Cool :)

Shouldn't this be in the Napoleon Complex Forum?
Look midget breath, the Nyack Ride had 80+ guys on it last weekend, they all race bikes, they all came out and treated this training ride as if it were the friggin Tour de Fred, to the point where they blatantly bombed every red light for 20 miles so they wouldn't lose position. Just because it's not a USCF event doesn't mean it's not a bike race.
Here's what you need for a bicycle race:
2 cyclists + 1 telephone pole = bicycle race.

there's a reason you're slow that has nothing to do with age or genetics.

I was thinking Richmond, VA. They do a crit series at a paved oval called Langley.
I'm not that slow. But you are that short.
By the way, the fastest I can motivate a bicycle is about 32mph. If I train and train and train and train and train that would become 34 mph. And the fast guys would still be going 38mph+.
can you two either get a room, or save the locker room flirtation for your face-to-face get togethers? :thumb:
Botto, that is a nice track! you should take more advantage of that.
We're lucky enough to have a track here - but its not anywhere near that level.

I would never cheat on you b.
Besides, with me and Gary, it's not face to face, it's his face looking at my neck. Or me watching him recede in the distance on a bike ride or race. A little of both.

since you evidently have no life outside of posting on a message board one would imagine that you would understand that when I quoted someone else I was addressing them.
of the 60 races I do this year, how many of those do you suppose I'll have my entry fees paid for? I think your math may be a bit off there.

Austin does their Thursday not crit series on a kart track....it's lit so they can race after dark...pretty cool stuff. I'm working on putting together a race at Button Willow Raceway in Bakersfield CA. It would be a 3.5 mile circuit race. I really wanted to do it at Willow Springs because it has some pretty good elevation change but I have good connections at BW.

I never did the night ride there. I do wish there was a weekday series that started earlier and went later in the season. Floyd is too darn hard to get to for me.

I will be sure to forward your comments to my two employees who are complaining about all the overtime they are working. The only reason I'm on BF is because it's easy when I'm tied to my friggin computer working all the time and it's quicker than going to the water cooler. Wait, we don't have a water cooler.
Accordingly, I'll be slaving over a hot Mac until at least 8PM, maybe much later. I rode early this AM.

I did not quite crush souls, but I did handily win the third race which was a 9 lap snowball. By virtue of that I got to race the 20 lap A main feature and took third. I needed more gear. Live and learn. Fun as hell, though I may not be able to walk for a while. I think my lungs hemorrhaged.
