Hi everyone, hope you guys are rocking with your bikes! :thumb: I just found this forum today and i really wanted to write some stuff, so here i am ^^

Let's get straight to the point! I learned to ride bikes about 5 months ago ...guess what, i'm 17!!! Yes, it was a lil bit late (lol), but i didn't have the need to learn it (same goes for the fear, something that still ****s up my riding days, which ill explain next) ... though my friends just pushed me on and voilah! i learned it in just ONE $*%&% DAY! NO FALLS! :thumb:

Just like every rookie, i bought my bike from a mall (im still hating myself for that money loss) ... heres a pic of it:

Man it sucks :/ and it weights A LOT

Well, i moved to another city for university studies ..and found an old friend of mine! from primary school! Man he's a crazy lunatic! he has like 13014141415 injuries from street mtb(and he has a very nice one, full alluminium ... over like 800$ invested on accesories)

So he told me thebike sucked big time, jeez i was hella sad and angry ... i decided to give my bike a shot but i cant just handle it, my biggest advance so far is pulling the front wheel, sometimes making a MINIMUN DIMINUTE bunnyhop, nothing else! I just do the commun stuff ...1 hand - no hands - perfect curves entrances and so on ...

Another topic is, ive had like maximum 3 falls since i started riding bikes! and i go full speed in the city, i dont know if thats pure luck or something, but my friend says that if i dont get a nice fall i wont lose the fear for them ... and i really FEAR THEM, man ... im just frightened to hear 'manual' or 'wheelie', when i pull my front wheel up i almost put it down inmediately :( the idea of hitting my back is.. ouch o.o!

Anyone can help me? i was thinking of buying a BMX... but i dont know how to get rid of these fears ... i really found my lifetime hobby on riding bikes, but i want to go further! I WANT TO DO TRICKS ON A BMX!!!

:crash::crash::crash::crash::crash::crash:

Need some help !!@!

Falling is no biggie, I catch myself most of the time but when you do fall you'll realize it wasn't a big deal and you'll get used to it. Just learn to suck it up. If you do that you'll be able to do so much more and not chicken out on everything. But if you really want to get rid of your fear really quick go find your local directory and go to a learn how to fall class. . . joking

If you can manage to fall on your back during a manual, maybe you need to find a new hooby.

For falling just keep your head up so it doesn't hit the ground. If you have a helmet and that will help you get over your fear wear it.

I lurk here in the BMX forum to keep educated on BMX bikes if my kid wants to get one.
OK your afaind of falling? Why are you staying with BMX? As far as i am concerend a BMX bike is good for one thing. TRICKS.

You might wnat to try MTB Mountain Bikes at least your be falling on dirt. If you are using your bike to get around campus get a Single speed or fixie.

Me i am a roadie/commuter. But it sould like you dont want to pay with cars either.

My self I am a Roadie Tour

Dirt can do more damage then you think.

i didnt say it was no risk. and with MTB there are always rocks and logs. On the road we have to deal with cars. So pick your poison and drink up.

Sorry st0ut, i'm not interested in just going through the campus with a shiny new bmx for everyone to see me :d

I really want to learn some tricks, i decided to go street when i get he new bike!

Thanks everyone for your comments, i've been practicing my falling fear in my room, i put some pillows on the floor and let my weight do the job straight to the ground! at least ive done it front-faced, i know to trust my ass for a complete back fall :)

Oh..i'll be practicing with the mtb that i showed on the first post, any ideas on how to carry on that junk? I repeat, it weighs A LOT ... it's like 15kgs+ (dunno lbs)

Same thing goes for manuals, any first-time tip? I've heard that you should practice manuals before bunnyhops?

SaluteS!

Bunnyhops are way quicker to learn than manuals. You need to be able to balance for a manuals; for a bunnyhop all you need is the right technique, which you can learn by reading and about 10 minutes of practise, and little bit of strength.

Either of them are gonna be a pain to learn on a full-suspension bike like the one in the picture, cause every time you throw your weight around the suspension's just gonna soak it all up. Can you lock it out until it's fully rigid at all?

I was able to do a wheelie 2 days ago on my friend's MTB, damn that was a nice and light bike, like 8kgs! Actually, i'm buying a BMX just for street tricks, should i go for a full alluminium? I want to get it as light as possible!

NO ALUMINUM. Go with 100% cromely. Herehttp://www.danscomp.com/101779.php?cat=BIKES
