BMX - building a better bike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
since my bike got stole i'v been thinking of starting over and instead of just buying a bike stock it would just be smarter and hopefully cheaper to build a bike from the ground up. and since everyone on here is so smart maybe someone could give me some ideas: best parts cheapest places to get them what all i need for the lightest strogest bike for vert and street use. anyhelp would be great and if this topic has been brought up before then I'm sorry
Better yes. But not cheaper. Unless you have time & shop Ebay for low priced quality components. I did this & it took about 4 months. Though I had to pay full retail to finish the bike on my self imposed scgedule. Had I paid full bike shop retail for every part, I stopped adding it up at $2200. The amount spent at that point was getting near $1200. I'm afraid to finish the math now.
