I was on the fence for a while but signed up for the higland double route. Anyone else doing it Saturday? What time are you starting?

I didn't register yet due to my work schedule. I'll decide for sure on Fri night.

I'm in for the Lowland Double, riding with my wife (her first double). Starting about 5 am to get in as much daylight as possible.

I'm in for the Highland Double, starting at 4:30 AM with a goal of finishing in the daylight. This will be my 5th Grand Tour, my 4th Highland.

Great route, and about as easy as doubles get!

Thanks Geroge,

It was a great ride! We had a wonderful overcast until well beyond Potrero, temps even quite good climbing Grimes Canyon and Dennison Grade into Ojai. A bit warm over Casidas until the 2nd summit, then cool breeze off the ocean cooled things down well.

Great tail winds from Rincon to Malibu! 4:30 AM start, 7:00 PM finish. Rode all the way to Casidas trying to hang on to Roland's wheel (ADO Gang), but finally dropped off, finished 1/2 hour after Roland.

Perfect weather (pretty much), great organization by Bobbi Fisher and Kermit Ganier, excellent checkpoint staff at all locations, great food, lovely route (Highland)! I'd ride it again . . . next year.

We must have rolled in right near each other, I came in at 6:59 by my GPS clock...

I think I remember seeing you (not knowing you were "umd") at the finish, or at least recognized your kit from Shai's photos. I may have finished a minute or two before 7:00 PM, so yeah, right about the same time. But then, I started a lot earlier than you did!

:D

True, I started a little after 6:15. The guys I ended up riding with from Ojai on started at roughly the same time as me but made a wrong turn and rode 8 miles out of the way, so they were really moving! I probably would have finished sooner had I not been cramped up several times on PCH on the way back.

I got a picture from the Moorpark rest stop:
