Mountain Biking - Anyone own a Trek 9.8 or a Rocky scandium Vertex?

I want to get a new mtn.bike this year and it's down to these two.I can get the Rocky frame for $1750 Canadian.The Trek is $1900.The Trek 9.8 complete is $3649 Canadian but there's some stuff I want to upgrade on it.Anyone ridden either one?

I don't own either one, but have ridden several TREK's. The feel to me just doesn't feel right.

I've NOT ridden the scandium RM, but the alum. RM's are great bikes!

I'd choose the RM's over TREK's any day of the week!
