Im going to staying in Sweden for a few weeks come the 1st of Aug. I will be staying near Stockhom for the majority of my time there. Wasn't planning on taking a bike with me there, but i am looking to purchase something. Undecided yet as to what i want yet.

Aside from that I also might be wanting to find some one or somebodies to bike with while im there. Mountain biking, cruising, or roadin it, down for just about anything. Basicly im looking for some people to cruise with and just explore countryside. Fair warning i don't speak Swedish at all, so really hoping theres some English speaking Swedish bikers out there :p

They all speak English.

Start here: http://www.scfmotion.se/indexnew.php

I think they have pages in English somewhere, but I can't find them. "Motion" means exercise.

List of clubs here: http://www.scfmotion.se/index03a.php (Landsväg means road, MTB is...obvious, I hope).

You don't have to join a club to just hook up and ride, but it's an easy way to find rides/routes.

Have fun.

Have you tried Google?

Unfortunately, some of the links are broken. But, you may be able to find a person or organization to email.

Er, sorry. What I meant was to dig through the list of clubs to find one near where you're going and contact them (in English). It might take a little work, but it's a place to start.

Yo i cant give u advice about clubs but dont leave the bike in the city just standing there with only one lock. You should lock the bike with at least 2 locks. Or it gets stolen in 5 minutes. Trust me I had a MTB and I was in the shop for 2 minutes and it got stolen...

Buying a bike might be a bit expensive, but it does depends on how long you will stay, and 'of course how much you will use the bike.

You also have, in the center of Stockholm, have the opertunity to "loan" a bike (I would call it rent...)
Information about this is avalible from: http://www.stockholmcitybikes.se (http://www.stockholmcitybikes.se/en/Home/)/en/Home/ (http://www.stockholmcitybikes.se/en/Home/)

Almost all Swedes does talk English, although the older generation a bit less good. And well I guess the previous link is good for the kind of bikeing you want to do.

I strongly recomend either having a good map or rideing with a local if you try todo it in stockholm. As the signs are really bad, as I noticed today.

Umm yes, I here is a link to bikemaps to stockholm and sorroundings:

Nord is North
and Söder is then obviously South.

I you have the money to spare or just don't mind losing a boat load of cash buy a bike in Sweden. If you do have a budget that you concern yourself with bring your bike with you. This week the Euro rate was roughly $1.60 buys €1.00 so you can see that you are going to lose a ton of money. You would think that bikes would be a little cheaper over here because of their enormous popularity but that simply isn't the case. I recently flew back to the states out of Frankfurt and I took my bike with me. It cost €120 to get it to D.C. and $105 to get it back to Frankfurt. So obviously, depending on how much you were going to spend on a bike it may make sense to but one in Sweden. I just wanted to let you know what you would be in for. Good luck.

Cheers,
E.R.
