After suffering through 10+ years of horrible football, bad coaching, unmotivated players, bad general managers, and a Steinbrenner clone of an owner, the Washington Redskins are on the way back!

Joe Gibbs, the greatest Redskins coach ever, is coming back as head coach, and he is bringing the Boss Hog himself, Joe Bugel, as assistant head coach and offensive line coach.

These two guys will make the offense work and produce. Now, if they can get a defenseiv coordinator of the caliber of Ritchie Petitbon, another Super Bowl within 5 years is not out of the question!

Yeah, and Pittsburgh is bringing back Chuck Noll. One for the thumb, baby! :D

Gibbs is certainly an improvement. Now if the owner will stay out of the way. I'm afraid that Washington has such a cap bomb coming that Gibbs may have his work cut out for him over the next year or two, though.

It'll be interesting to watch... as opposed to how it has been.

I wonder what will become of Gibbs' NASCAR operation, which has been very successful.

I dunno about his NASCAR team... but I'm sure his playbook will have about 1000 plays all going to the left :D

His son or sons (I forget if he has one or two) are going to run Gibbs Racing.

Now all the redskins need is John Riggins

If we bring back Riggo can the Hogs be far behind?

the redskins will be terrible until they get rid of the owner. its no conicidence that they have had so many coaches since snyder became owner, whats that, like 5? its clear that he won't gie up any control and is mucking things up. its up to the ravens to hold up maryland pride next season.

I'm not so sure. I don't think Gibbs would have come back had not Snyder promised to stop interferring. Not only is Gibbs head coach, he is also team president.

Too, Snyder is not stupid. He must have noticed that as soon as it became public knowledge that Gibbs was back, the order for tickets went through the roof. In the first day, they added 2,000 people to the waiting list and the orders for luxury boxes and the mezanine boxes went to record highs.

If he keeps meddling and won't let Gibbs do his magic, all the luster will be gone.

But, the Redskins franchise was recently valued at $1 billion! That's a lot of scratch for a football team.

As for the Ravens, I don't know what they need..perhaps some wide receivers and a few really good defensive linemen so they can rotate and the starters don't get so exhausted.

I think that the ravens need to spend some time (and money) on a wide reciever. I remember in that game with the steelers, the wide recevier dropped like three passes in a row! honestly, people, I think thats why jamal lewis got those rushing yards...they were afraid to throw it to the receiver.

back to the skins. I think we'll have to wait and seewhat happens. they have some good players and a good coach now. We'll see if snyder can stay out of the way, after all, promises can be broken.

Hang Snyder from the flagpole out front and the Skins will win. He has to be the worst owner in sports! The only one I hate more is Steinbrenner.

I think you are right. When the best receiver you have is your tight end, and Todd Heap is an exceptional football player, all the defense has to do is double cover him, and passing game is 75% gone. There are a lot of great wide outs in the next draft. Hopefully, they will be able to snag one.

Unfortunately, shades of George Steinbrenner, who always promised to stay out of the way, but it took him more than 10 years to figure out he was did more harm than good.

The Cowboys rule!!

I always liked Roger Staubach, Walt Garrison, Billy Jo Dupree, Drew Pearson, Charlie Waters, and think the old coach in the snap brim hat, Tom Landry, was one of the best coaches in the history of the game.

But, when they arrogantly self-annointed themselves as "America's Team" I wrote them off as a bunch of Texas yahoos.

I am ashamed.

I grew up in a suburb of D.C. and I was too slow be a Redskins fan.

I salute the 'Skins (as does my manic Virginian brother-in-law.)
