Foo - how googleable are you?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Anyone else keep tabs on their name via google? I do, I never quite know when I might be job-hunting, or a job might be hunting me, so I like to know what is out there. I keep an eye on Google, MSN, and a couple other biggies.
Mostly, my work, my blog, my work blog, LinkedIn, etc. come up along with a few people that are not me.
However, just in:
I am [not] pleased to announce that some very great quotes from a friend's website now appear in the top 5 listings:
"I wonder if sperm get drunk"
"All I wanted to do was [blank] you, Kate." (which sounds dirty, but its about a card game)
And if you click on one of those links you get a myrad of others:
”Why are your nuts on my ass?” (referring to a can of honey roasted nuts)
”Are you ready? This is going to be ORGASMIC” (Washing my friend's hair with herbal essences after dying it)
Yowzer. I think something needs to be done about that. :twitchy:
So, what comes up when you google your name?

I share my name with a programmer. The programmer is know for games like Miner 2049er. Among other things... Spider-Man. So good luck finding stuff on me.
Since I'm in the computer industry, should I put a disclaimer on my resume ? "Not THAT Mike..." :D
if you google my first and last, almost the whole first page is me, and 28k results
race results
bike trips
flickr stuff
and leather chrissy???
my name comes up, but none of them are me. I am several doctors, a student from missouri, and I have an award named after me.

I posted this a couple of weeks ago in the "employer asked for myspace page" thread:
I googled myself to see what a potential employer might find. Here are just a few of the things I learned about myself:
I'm a professional musician, not big but there are a lot of web sites that mention me. I have clothing (including thongs!) with my logo you can buy at CafePress.
I have numerous entries at Facebook, LinkedIn, Classmates, MySpace, etc.
I'm the victim of a drive-by shooting. (I died).
I have a web page with pictures using Play-Doh to depict very disturbing scenes, using a fake knife and fake blood (or are they?).
I'm an MMA fighter! Unfortunately my record is 0-1.
I worked for the DMV and died in a car accident.
I'm an RN. (That doesn't sound right.)
I'm the victim of an unsolved murder.
Apparently I've lived and died many lives. I went through 20 pages of me, and not a single entry was actually me (well, except being the victim of an unsolved murder, but that's in the future). I am anonymous.
.
I'm 41, and my father (same name) has more hits than me. I have a few here and there. Mostly aviation related and computing stuff where I don't mind if people know my real name.
I like it that way. The last thing I need is a prospective employer finding my Modern Drunkard Magazine account.
 :D
upon googling myself I just had to pull my account several places
woops, I'm also an embezzler that can't make bail.

I have a pretty uncommon name, Darwin is actually my first name, with a relatiuvely common last name.
There are a few of us out there.
For the few with the same name out there, how anyone can figure out which of them would be me is a mystery, since some of them that are me, are me in a "previous life" in which I held beliefs I no longer hold to... :)
I have a psychological makeup that leads me to be a bit of a chameleon. ;)

Apparently I'm a V.P. of Stategic (his spelling, not mine) Sales at CBS Radio. Glad he's not in the print media.
I used my real name instead of jsharr. Who knew that Swedish Bikini Team would get so many hits. oops, dang it, now ya'll know my true identity. Better change names again.

Ah, Miner 2049er used to be my favorite game in the whole world back when I played video games!!
I Google my name sometimes and have never come up with anything, ever. I didn't realize I was such an oddity in that regard!
We Google each other at work sometimes but we find interesting (and highly inappropriate) things, so we stop doing it regularly.
When I used to have a 'blog, I could track what terms people Googled to find my 'blog. The weirdest hit was someone who searched: "Mary Kate and Ashley Olson topless in bikinis." That search entry resulted in my 'blog being the first hit. And I have no idea why! The only terms I ever used out of that whole sentence were "and" and "in."

I never use my real name on the internet, so I doubt a search would return any incriminating results.

No one shares my name, so I'm very easy to find. Normally, my home page and other stuff appears first. However, my service provider recently blacklisted me and suspended my account, so Google is temporarily showing stuff about me rather than my personal stuff since the last time it crawled my site, I'd been blasted off the internet.
I've gotten things sorted out with my service provider, so things will soon be as they were.

my lj blog, phi theta kappa inductees, a letter to the editor I wrote about my high school, facebook, an article about my folding bike ride, teh bf's blog, links from other people's blogs, a bunch of latin texts, and a bunch of other people I don't know who share my last name ('tis a rather common one, unfortunately)

unlikely considering the internet is what I do.
I already emailed the site's owner, who didn't evern remember it was still out there (from circa 2000) and he removed the offending full name.

Tons and tons of hits about a Spanish singer.
If I search by email address, I get mostly Slashdot postings, BF postings, random other postings from forums I hopped on, old Xanga and MySpace profiles, and lots of other footprints.

perhaps, but a friend of mine, who works in the fashion industry always googles (as well as checking myspace and facebook) prospective job applicants, when she's hiring.

I googled my full name ("first middle last", complete with the quotation marks), and got one hit. It's a poor quality picture that may be of me in the 1970s. The caption with it has correct information, though.
Lots of entries for me, although when you make a living making appearances before municipal boards whose minutes are published on the internet, what would one expect?

There is only one hit to me using my real name, although there are a couple other people with my name that have more.
My main internet "persona" has 17,300 hits... which is significantly down from a previous 40,000+. I'm taking a breather from that "persona" for awhile and apparently it's affected my googalability.

I get a link that's our employee directory at my office, and some dude who owns a farm out in the midwest.
I also get a classmates.com link that's not me, and some photographer guy with a horribly bad website.
That's about it.

You keep saying that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
(Sorry for the hijack. I have a very common name - and there's at least one semi-famous person who shares it, so good luck finding stuff on me.)
Huh, I was apparently one of the top jugglers in the Warren County United Soccer Club's Girls' Juggle Club in 1997. Go me.

You could always marry a Chen. Instant anonymity. :p
Searching "jason chen" (in quotes), Google evidently finds about 232,000 English pages. There are quite a few upstanding citizens before me. My first hit is in the late 200's, from my freshman year of college.
I'm very pleased to see that "jason s chen" (more important to me since that's how I publish) currently returns hits from me at hits 1-7, 10-13, 16, 20-22, 24-26 of 26. Yup... 18 of 26 are mine. All those hits relate to professional publications. :) [edit: Okay, one lists my educational background. That's safe enough. I have no clue who put it there.] Maybe next time, though, one of them might be a BikeForums hit. :p
In case anyone's concerned for my privacy, don't worry... it's never been a secret who I am in real life.
