Winter Cycling - The Great Debate

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
UnderArmor Coldgear versus Capilene underwear.
An old fashioned unwillingness to feel pain
Haven't heard of UnderArmour though. Patagonia makes alot of nice Capilene stuff, I've used it for hiking and backpacking, except being Patagonia, it's fairly pricey. I typically buy whatever Coolmax closeouts show up on SierraTradingPost myself, but I know the hikers swear by anything Capilene. I have a bike jersey from Patagonia which I love.

Never heard of either one. I don't have any cycling specific clothes. I just use whatever I have that works.

Just generic synthetic longjohns that i pick up at closeout stores, thrifts, or hand me downs. When my grandfather passed I inherited two pair of white syth longjohn bottoms and tops from him, and they are what I use everyday. One pair one week, then they go in the wash, and the second pair comes out for the second week. Also have a pair of old sewn-up, patched-up brown synths that I could use as a backup. I like the white for visibility in the midrange temps when I don't need to cover them though. And I do have 1 nice pair of Patagonia Capilene that I only use for cold weather backpacking and camping. Just discovered a run in the pants though last time I took them out, how do I salvage those neatly? Ladies any help?
