I would love to bomb down a bobsled track on a bike.

I would definitly give that a try if I get ever get the chance. I would like to see the rider hit the turn with a bit more speed and hold a higher line. Might not be faster but would be fun.

When I look @ that pic, my mind take me to that "agony of defeat" introduction of the Wide World of Sports show. :D

That did look fun in the middle of the night last night, but now after a 3 hour ride in 30 degree weather it just looks cold!

i'm fairly certain that's Marla Streb. when i went to see her on her book tour she was talking about how she rode a bobsled track for an imax movie she's going to be in.

I've rode many times on solid ice, and surprisingly, it wasn't that slick.... I always used a Specialized Storm Control (non-studded) tire on the rear, and a Panaracer Smoke on the front. It's amazing really... I hit speeds up to 25 mph, but NEVER wrecked. I did have a spill, when my feet flew out from under me while getting off my bike right at my 4Runner after I'd already rode about 6 miles... Believe it....or Not.

Probably depends on the smoothness of the ice. We had six inches of snow this last week. It immediately switched to freezing rain for two days, so we ended up with an inch of solid ice on the top with a very smooth finish. It was almost impossible to walk on. I was really tempted to go for a spin, but something in the rational part of my brain always stopped me. Although, if Marla Streb can do it, I'm sure I can...(right?) :D

As long as it is REALLY REALLY COLD the ice won't be all that slick. I'd think it would be a heck of a rush!

Hmm, I am not all that far away from Calgary or Salt Lake. :D

Thats becuase unless there is moisture on top of the ice, its not slick. The colder it is the better. (except that my hands freeze!! :D )

Yep...spent three hours shoveling ice yesterday. I got to one section of sidewalk that was a lot harder and did 3 feet in half-an-hour, so I gave up there. At one point I could hardly break through to the pavement because I didn't have enough friction to lever against the shovel :roflmao:

You suppose she could ride that bike off the ski jump? They jump to tranny for that right?
