Electric Bikes - This forum is going to get busy.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Oh please......
Yes, we have all seen this before and it isn't exactly a very positive comment on bicycling as a serious form of transport.

Sianelle I pride myself in being open minded and I think there's a place for all critters on earth. I don't believe we need to hunt anymore. We can get the food we need in other ways. But some targets bring out my less enlightened side. And this is called humor, satire?, of what humanity?

That was hilarious. To be fair, I'd like to see the "SUV driver" version of this.
Maybe we should all just pretend Maddy's not here. We're not going to change him. My mother used to say "act as if it's the wind that you hear".
Just put him on your ignore list.
1 - Click on his name
2 - click on "Add maddyfish to Your Ignore List"
done.
You won't be able to read his posts. That way you don't get distracted by his B.S. and can stay on topic.

Well with this changing economy I think a lot of people are going to have to rethink their options. And that may include a finding work closer to home or b moving closer to work. This will be the new reality. The suburban commuter will slowly go away.
This is so true. When gas was 2.50 a gallon, my husband was working for the Post Office by the university. He had a one hour commute because of business traffic and what not. At that time, he transferred to the Post Office that is 1.4 miles away from our house. He can walk or bike to work (just ordered his own Ezip).
I homeschool my son (age 11) and my work is medical transcribing from the home (no driving involved whatsoever). My son and I both have electric bikes we use for karate lessons, library runs, anything we can do close.
Living in New Mexico affords us better weather for riding than most. Of course, rainy or wind/sand conditions will force us to use car but we are making better decisions about when/where to drive. We are also selling one of our cars and will be a one car family which will guide us into even better decisions of when to be driving around.

Hi I recently discovered e-bikes acually exist. Wow. Neat.
Bought a two tear old eZee Quando from an online ad. What a cool, easy way to cut down on the gas use.
I`m a shop owning auto mechanic for 25 years and now commute to work on an e-bike. Times change. Might do a mountain bike conversion sometime if a kit can be had.
Maddy you are fighting a rising tide. Have fun.

CK All sounds good, but rain forces you to car it, posh on you. You won't melt. You'll feel cool like you did up in the mountains.

Hah, yes but I will look like one wet puppy. Actually, I thought it was not a good thing to ride electric bikes in the rain? Am I missing something? As far as the sand, if you have ever been here, it can get really bad. It is fine and gritty and will work its way in everything. We have to vacuum out the computer four times a year, it even collects in there!
At least I live 5-10 minutes from most places that I need to go, other than Trader Joes (fave place). In August, I have to drive into town in a carpool situation as my son attends a one day a week all day class. I will hit Trader Joe's on the way back from my turn. Just will have to plan better as far as food needs.
I have a want for a ladies comfort mountain 21 speed bike for Christmas. My husband says we have enough bikes. Want to sell my Kona for a bike that won't make me hurt when I ride. Getting old is tough, eh? Trying to make it as graceful as possible and help this body/frame last as long as God wills it. Maybe I can then keep up with the rest of you!
Blessings, CK

CK There is a chance rain could be bad. So far I've been in 3 or 4 sod drenchers. And lotsa rains. It's been spring. No problem. I guess when I'm twenty miles from home some part of me doesn't like the idea of calling for a ride home. I do work at keeping all the 'lectrics tight.

^^^ Hey, what's that green/red button switch on the right?
Is that for your lights?
I am also going to build two headlights with those little push button switches, but yours looks pretty nice with two switches on one mount.
