Hey check out this website: http://health.discovery.com/. If you sign up for the body challenge on Saturday at an official weigh-in, they say their giving a free 3 month membership to Bally's.

Thought maybe this would help me lose those last 15 pounds.

Thanks for the link.I may check that out as there is a location along my favorite bike route.I am actually trying to add lean muscle not lose weight but a free gym membership as a temporary break from my home gym sounds enticing lol.

I did get an e-mail from them this evening. It said they are having heavier response than they expected, and that the lines for the weigh-in could be long. So, I don't know what to expect. I'm hoping that anyone who shows up gets the free 3 months. We'll see. At any rate, the whole program sounds good even without the Bally's membership.

The only thing I would recommend is that if you do sign up for this program and you get the 3 months free, make sure that there isn't a "lifetime" membership involved that kicks in after the three months. Don't give out your credit card information or sign the contract that binds you to them, because if you're dissatisfied with the Bally's clubs, you'll never be able to get out of that contract, and they WILL ruin your credit record if you try to back out. Otherwise, have fun!

Yes, I'm sort of worried about that. I plan on being really careful. However, even if I don't get the 3 month membership, they are still going to provide nutriential information and a plan for meeting my goal of 15-20 pounds of weigh loss. The information they have sent to me so far, seems to be based on sound weight loss principles along with the caution to be sure to work on lean muscle weight gain.

I had lost 20 pounds last year and kept it off, but have been stuck on a plateau for a long time now. I really hope this will help get me moving again.

My Bally's membership is approx $60 a year, husband's is $50, and both adult children are $120 each per year. We signed up with a program called TURN BACK. If you see it advertised, e-mail me and I'll meet with you so you can sign up at that low price. The gimmick is that you have to know someone who still has their original contract. Then you get the price that they were quoted. I don't pay too much attention to current promos.

Outashape, you did good! The Ballys here in Chicago is up to $30 a month, I think. They have family memberships at the Y for less, and I think with it being less crowded at the Y than at Ballys, I feel a lot less constricted with going to the Y, especially since they have month to month memberships and not the lifetime membership.

Good luck with getting that lower fee thing, though. I think outashape is paying more what the actual worth of that club is by paying only $60 a year. I have heard of the Turn Back, and I know a woman that joined back when Ballys was the Chicago Health Club and Cher was their spokesperson... now THAT was a LOOOOOOONG time ago...

Wow, $60 a year is a great price! I'll keep my eye out for it. I went and stood in line for a couple of hours today for the weigh-in and never did make it into the store. Still had a couple hours wait. They finally started giving out vouchers for the free stuff that they said they would mail in about 2 weeks. You only had to stay in line if you wanted to talk to the dietitian. I got there this morning about 1/2 hour before opening time, and there was already at least 500 people standing in line. I heard some of them had been waiting over 3 hours for the store to open! So, my 3 month pass for Bally's should be here sometime this month. They said you didn't have to sign up for anything to use it.
