Foo - ? for Ms. I and other Ducati owners

If you had to do it again, would you buy another Ducati or go with another brand?
Still like the Monster, or would you have gone with a different model?

In a heart beat. Im on my 2nd Duc now. I had a Monster first than bought an ST4s and then sold the Monster. I'd like a 848 or 1098 next, but if I couldnt swing it i'd go for a 749 or 999. I may be one of the few Ducatista that like the 999's style.

I cant say I owned a Duke yet... I was very close to buying a yellow 748 back in 2002... I ended up picking up a 2002 R1 though instead... the Ducatis while nice were a lilttle stuck for good service locations here in Upstate NY... and that steered me away... the monster is a great bike though... along with the rest of the Ducati lineup... I actually like the lines of the 999 myself too....

I LOVED my 1975 750. What a bike. Schooled a lot of 1000 ricers on the road. NOTHIN like the sweet sound of a dry clutch. The only other bikes that come near Ducs in class and style are Guzzis. I had to sell it to bankroll the last part of my custody battle, I see it sometimes on the road around here. Real bummer, but I was able to "win" my "right" to be in my sons life more than once a month. SO there is no regret there. If I was ever to get another bike, it would be a Duc. Probably not a Monster. I like em (how couldnt ya) but I like the older styles. Damn I miss that bike.

I googled to see what your bike looked like. Apparently there were two distinct models, the 750GT and the 750SS. Which did you have?

While looking for your bike I found a web page filled with, uhh, a bunch of nice B&W pictures (http://digilander.libero.it/gipp1/motori/hotpants/hotpants-girls.htm). There's a Ducati 750 there somewhere. :)

Where do you put the turn signals though?

Rear view mirrors with turn signals built in would be cool.

Never heard of them referred to as a "Duke"... Duc - pronounced "duck" is what I've always heard people say, including people who own them.

I owned a 95 Duc 900ss/cr for a year back around 99 or so, and then a 97 Monster 900 for a couple years around 2002. Both came and went, but if another Duc came along at the right price and time, I wouldn't hesitate to pick one up. Both were regretfully sold to finance non-motorcycle projects. Currently riding a 97 BMW F650ST, but if a used 695 Multistrada had come along at the same price (i.e. not likely), it would have gotten the nod in a heartbeat. In a few years, stuff like the MultiStradas and SportClassics will actually be reasonable used-bike buys, and then I might definitely be in the market for one of them. Generally, the newer ducs are more reliable and require less $$$ intensive service then their reputation might indicate. They have their quirks and charm, but the benefits--tangible and otherwise--definitely outweigh any negatives.

I still like it, I'm very happy with it. There are other bikes I might like in addition to it though.... ;)

Don't need turn signals, at least here. Mirrors are not required either. Just hand signals, brake lights, and headlight.

What other bikes have caught your eye?

Many have caught my eye, but I wouldn't be able to easily ride many of them (too short).

I quite like the Ninja 250 (great fun in the twisties), and wouldn't mind something like an SV650 for a track bike. I also would love to have a little dual sport or something similar. :ride:

The unfaired SV650 is just so wrong...

A motor that sweet needs fairings. Naked bikes should be brutal and fast:D

Is the slight bump in preformance of the 696 worth the bump in price over the 695?

Ducati Monsters surely do have my attention, and there is a dealer nearby, just a few miles away. The disappearance of the local Moto Guzzi dealer makes the Ducatis more available. The Italians do make beautiful motorcycles! Really, though, I loved my Beemer Boxer so much, after owning three Harleys, that I might go with BMW again. That BMW was more comfortable in some ways, for a long highway run, than a car or truck.

Ducatis RULE. I am a total m/c Fred, and I am not worthy of a Duc. That would be like Chipcom riding a Cervelo Soloist SL.

I'd mount a set of mini-stalks at the headlight mountings for the front, then mini aero pods mounted below the belt line of the tail section.
