At a garage sale, I got a nice Thule 961xt trunk rack for $35. However, when I downloaded Thule's fit guide, I read that they don't recommend it for our 2002 Echo, saying the "Carrier is not recommended because, the vehicle is unable to support the weight at the point where the carrier must be placed."
I can accept that, and I don't want to take any chances. I'm sure I can sell it to someone else.
However, trunk racks from other companies say my Echo is fine for their racks, and they don't attach any differently from the Thule. My guess is that Thule is being overly cautious, and that their rack would be just as safe as one from another company.
Thoughts? Recommendations for other racks?
Thanks,
