View Full Version : OK, I've just ordered my Dahon MU p24
I can't wait. Every person has a bike that fits his needs. I feel this matches the needs of my commute.
I used my local bike store in Maryland. I hope this starts a great relationship with them.
I'll let you know when I get the bike, and a provide a periodic review and photos of my commute.

Congratulations! Which LBS?
Crofton bikedoctors. They are going to become a stocking dahon dealer. They've gotten a lot of inquiries recently as gas prices skyrocketed.
I emailed a couple other bike stores - Citybikes and Silver cycles - and got no response on my wish to order a dahon and asking for a price. Another store answered my email and wanted to charge me $130 over MSRP for the bike. I declined.
I'd still try to contact the local bike shops close to DC. Perhaps calling them would be better than email.

Bikes@Vienna (http://www.bikesatvienna.com) has Mu P24s in stock I believe.
Mt. Airy Bicycles (http://www.bike123.com/) and College Park Bicycles (same firm)

Enjoy! I test-rode one of these in Manhattan and it's a sweet bike. The gearing is awesome. Are you in a hilly area?
Surprisingly, yes. I live along the Severn river in Maryland and the back roads have all sorts of elevation changes. My commute to and from the train station is relatively flat though.
I bought it so that I'd have a bike that was not limited by gearing. That way, when I travel, I don't have to sacrifice much.
Now I have to get a bike bag. I'm not going to make my own. Maybe a trip down to IKEA for their blue bag is needed. Perhaps a bazooka bike bag. I'll have to measure the bike to examine the possibilities.

I thought that the P24 was a little too much bike for what I needed. If I had more hills on my commute or it was going to be my only bike, I'd have gotten it in a heartbeat.

I will say that your pictures on Flckr helped me out. I'm amazed that there are so few personal reviews on this model.
Thanks again.

Oh you are most welcome! My buddy Ryan bought one too. His is in a lovely white colour, with separate shifters for his Dualdrive and his 8-speed cassette, unlike mine, which is integrated.
