I have read of underwater bike races being held in a couple locations about the globe. Seems locations were Cyprus, Genoa, Italy, Florida maybe. Anyone here at Bike Forum ever give it a try. If so, how was it. What bike did you use. Did that activity screw up your bike. Sounds fun, I think? Not sure how boyancy problems would play out. Maybe sort of like cycling on the Moon.

Better have retractable paddle tires or maybe just have the tire there for looks and actually drive a prop!!
I used to ride my mountain bike with sealed bearings to where it was just my upper body sticking out of
the water, It would freak people out to see me riding a bike when I headed for shore.

How about one's chain. I'd think an underwater bike event would be pretty lethal. For sure, one trip in salt water, and you'd better change your chain. So , your bike was mostly submerged. How did that affect balance, steering.

You'd just have to wear enough lead... or I've got a heavy stainless backplate and twin steel cylinders that'll keep you "grounded". LOL

You guys have just come up with my next great invention! The waterproof bicycle. They have waterproof watches and cameras. So why not??

I rode my single speed road bike off a pier into the Guf of Mexico in March. Also rode on the beach alot.
The sand was more irratating than the water.

The closest I've come was last year. A huge storm rolled through while I was riding to work. My bike had 27" wheels and they were completely underwater at one point. In front all I could see was the top of my fender breaking through the water. There was a little bit of a cross current, so I didn't stop for fear of being carried off the road. It's the only time I ever used the smallest ring on my triple crank.
It scared the crap out of me at the time, but looking back on it now, it was kind of fun. :)
