5th wheel in the 3's and a decent sprinter with a downhill finish. Perfect.
Until the 2nd place guy decides to overlap the 1st place guys wheel going into the turn 200m from the finish, taking 5 of us out in the process.
Bent hanger, scuffed shifter, road rash galore and a big bruise starting on my right kidney.
Fun times at the Grandview Criterium had by all.
Meh, what can ya do but laugh? :twitchy:

Drink, take narcotics. THEN laugh. Sorry about the bad luck.

I was supposed to announce that event this weekend, but had scheduling problems. Bummer.
Were you not set up to take the inside line? That's a good habit to get into because crashes usually sweep outward.
Say hey to Brad the announcer for me and please give him this message in writing: Flower shifu cose dog 1 year. Seriously, he'll spout milk through the nose and then explain it to you.
And tell him to do his best Mick jagger.
Nope, it was single file setting up for the sprint. The second guy went down right before the apex of the corner, so when 3rd and 4th went down, I rode right over them both.
I talked to Brad today, but am working tomorrow, so I won't be at the race. I wish I would have known. He's a funny guy.

Had a similar crash once, State Crit, entering last turn 5th or so and on my wheel of choice. And yes I was inside & got bounced off the curb in the process. Face plant at full speed, free ambulance ride, ect. Sometimes you do everything right and racing still bites you in the butt.
That sucks. Take it easy and heal up fast.
Down at Hyde park, they gave us a warm lap to see the course. This is when I noticed my flat rear tire. Rode back to the end of the course, told the offical that I was out. He said if I could fix it by the 2nd lap he'd put me back in. I was parked right there so I went for it. One of your cat 1-2 teammates helped throw a new tube in and I made the race. Had to start all the way to the back as they rolled by and that doomed me, but I stayed in and finished the race, all be it a half a lap behing the leaders.

I'll do it tomorrow.

Sucks man. You came out of it well, all things considered. A poor teammate of mine went down in the Thurs crit this week and busted 5 bones. Glad you're mostly ok (internally).
I've totally been sacrificing time in the draft to make sure I'm far inside on corners. In that rainy crit last weekend, I had a guy right in front of me slide out twice, but I was just a touch inside and they were out of the way when I got there. It also helped that I was going slightly slower, thus not sliding.

Bummer. Who ended up winning?
I decided after watching accuweather.com to not drive all that way. Instead, I did a training ride around here and got caught in a storm anyway.
Looks like that will be the case today as well.
Not sure who actually ended up winning. You should have come up. Masters and 3's was dry. The girls got one lap in and it started pouring and thundering. I left, so I'm not sure if they cancelled it or not. April wasn't too happy though, I do know that. :D

Talked to Krystal down at Hyde Park, she said they got going again after the rain.
It dried up for out race also, once the rain stoped, they got out the brooms and squeegies (sp?) and did a great job with the course.
