How do you clean yours? Do you throw them in the machine? I was thinking about wrapping them in an old pillow case and putting them in the machine. What about the dish washer?

I do one of two ways...

1) Take them into the shower with you...

2) Just scrub them in the kitchen sink (or if you have a work sink in the garage).

I use a degreaser on stains and then mild soap and work it in well to a lather.

Rinse well and let dry.

My clothes dryer came with a tray that can be placed inside and the shoes placed on it. This makes for a QUICK way to dry the shoes if you need to wear them the next day.

I've got Sidis. They're made out of some sort of fake black leather that all I ever have to do is hose them off and let them dry.

I have a big cool box with a tight fitting lid inside teh front door.
I just sling them in there, seal the lid down tight and forget about them.
I wash them when I can actually smell them while cycling, (too much detail?)
then I give them a good scrub at the sink.

They look better used, leave them dirty.

I throw mine in the washer on gentle cycle and let air dry. This has worked for years for me with no problems.

What does used have to do with dirty? Trust me they are used, but I like to take care of my stuff.

I will try the sink and brush method.

Shoes? Who needs shoes?

Back in my day, we clipped in with our bare feet. Riding 300 miles each way to school, in sleet, uphill both ways...

Just wash 'em. ;)

For your info me and a bbarend went for a wet ride and in the process got a lot of dirt and grime on our shoes and bikes. I guess I should have been more hard core and left the bike dirty too. That way people could tell I ride. But I guess having a pair of dirty shoes is the next best thing.

Dirt?

I'm sorry. I am a road biker. I ride on the road, wear bright coloured lycra and have shaved legs.

Maybe if you posted in the mountain biking section you would get a response.

This is George Hincapie of the US Postal team. This picture was taken at the Paris-Roubiax. It is known to be a muddy race. So you see a "real" road rider gets dirty because they ride no matter what.

I know this may be hard to believe, but the road is not clean and when it is wet that dirt gets on the rider. If you (Croak) think you are a "real" road rider because you stay clean, I say think again.

The question had already been answered when you decided to post your smarta$$ comment. But I have noticed you do a lot of trolling.

You are not serious, are you?

You can't be...

You didn't find the post somewhat satirical?

Umm...

I'm speechless. I pretty much thought the 'slant' of the post was about as subtle as a bowling ball.

I'll spell it out for you. I was just having a go at myself, and the rest of us, for being roadies. You know? A bit of humour at your own expense.

It was also a somewhat backhanded dig at mountain bikers, for no reason other than to potentiate the rift between the two groups for the sake of comradery in the two camps.

I respectfully withdraw the post and I will now go and sit in the corner. I have learnt my lesson and shall never commit the heinous act again.

I am truly sorry.

I think its funny but some people get bent easier then others. To be serious all the time is to not have fun. Are'nt we suppose to be having a bit of it?

I think you got your ass handed to you.

Of course you can have fun but I was asking a question because my shoes got dirty and I didn't want to throw them in the washing machine and hear them beat around for an hour. So I was looking for different ideas on cleaning them. They weren't dusty they were muddy. Plus I was worried about the carbon soles getting damaged.

Being a troll on public forums is just annoying.
