They had a pretty good basketball team back in the early 70's.

Didn't go to school there but go there twice a year or so for business. Learned how good authentic "Buffalo Wings" tasted at the Anchor Bar and its just a skip to go over and see Niagara Falls (the Canadian side is better) but frankly, I don't see the appeal.

Went there more years ago than I would like to admit. What are you interested in?

hey man, I grew up in buffalo and have a TON of friends who went or are still going to Buff State / UB.

Are you going to Buff State or University of Buffalo? Both are in the SUNY system. Ask away if you have any specific buffalo questions

edit: so your going to the school? Shouldnt you already know about it??

Peter Hare, an outstanding member of SUNY Buffalo's philosophy faculty just died. :( He was an amazing guy.

oh come on, the cold isnt bad. Maybe I say this because I live in a colder place. Buffalo gets snow and thats about it but it does not get thaaaat cold. You will enjoy UB, 4am last call is an amazing thing.

You are correct. The lake actually keeps the temps in the area warmer than most people would expect. Only problem is, the lake also makes lake-effect snow. So there is mucho snow, but not really in the city itself, more in the 'burbs.

Whatever you do, don't live in the University Heights area. People get robbed there at least once a week, no joke. Check out buffalonews.com, good info, lots of stuff going on. Go to Sabres games, go to Bisons games. Go to the Albright-Knox gallery. Stay out until 4am. Visit the Canadian Ballet ;)

I love Buffalo, but I could never find a job there, that's why I live in Albany. I'd like to make it back some day.

I will give it THAT... New York State lets you out of the bars just in time for a shower, early breakfast, and 8 a.m. class.

If you have a choice live on South campus. Easier access to bars and parties. I haven't been back there in nigh 10 years but when I was there the life around North Campus was virtually non-existant. Invest in a quality pair of boots for the winter (misd-calf, waterproof, preferably gor-tex) it makes the winter much more bareable.

class of '77. The 'north' campus was still mostly swampland. I lived in Schoellkopf hall for two years and in the U district around the main (now south) campus for another 2+ years, and spent a lot of time cycling back and forth to the Ridge Lea satellite campus where the geology dept. was located at the time.
