Next Saturday July 5, I will attempt a metric century. I have not ridden that far in over 30 years. Began biking in some earnest in February and completed 40 miles last saturday without a problem. Did 25 this morning and have been doing 18 miles or so on the stationary bike 1-2 times a week. Looking forward to next Saturday's ride, it will be almost like a birthday ride since I will be turning 60 in December. Think I am ready. Will be riding the Sirrus comp which I really like. Will let you know how it goes.

If you did 40 miles last Saturday unsupported, riding 63 miles with a supporting cast and when you're mentally geared to ride 63 will be a piece of cake.

This will be unsupported as well. But I don't mind that, I mostly ride alone anyway.

Should be a great ride. You'll feel wonderful when you've got that under your belt. You appear ready physically and mentally; enjoy the ride! (Make sure you have pie pics later!) :)

Hmph. I'd be more impressed if it were all uphill. On a fixed gear. :)

But have a good time anyway! You'll burn more than enough calories to enjoy some pie. A la mode, even.

It may be the 5th of July but I think that apple pie (a la mode) would still be in order and very acceptable, especially since we will be enjoying fireworks on the beach on that evening.
