My wife will be retiring at the end of the year (I'm already semi-retired) and we have looked at several locations in GA and one in FL to retire in. Gotta get out of the noise and congestion of Atlanta.
We've talked about the Huntsville/north AL area but my wife has this fear that the day after we move into a new house, a tornado will come roaring through the area and wipe us out. :o
What's it really like and what is the road riding like?

I saw this (http://www.springcity.org/) but am looking for more info.

Just for redundancy post in the sweet home AL thread, too. Several H'ville cyclists on here at times. bbattle posts quite frequently.

The tornado thing is weird. I've been in Huntsville all my life and 80% of the tornado's hit in rural areas. I here the sirens but I'm so used to them they don't phase me to much. There is danger associated so I check the weather, if it's not near me I don't worry about it. I live inside the city so it's almost never near enough for me to worry.

As far as road riding . . . . . . I ride to work but other than that I don't know. I haven't gotten involved in any clubs yet.
