actually i have two questions:

currently i ride a motobecane nemesis and average 16.5-17mph on hilly kentucky terrain for <50 miles. if i upgraded to a p2c or b12 (with a professional fit, which i don't currently have), how much should my speed improve? i know there a million factors that go into speed but i'm still curious on how much of an effect a new carbon bike would have over my nemesis. next year will be my fourth year in triathlon and i'm planning to step up and do imky and want to upgrade the ol bike.

secondly, the motobecane has ultegra components. if i upgrade bikes, should i just buy a frame and transfer my ultegra set over the the new frame plus new aerobars and saddle or just buy a new complete bike?

i'll take any opinions, thanks in advance.

A solid tri bike (like the P2C or B12) may give you as much as 1-2mph more speed, depending on the conditions and how fast you go. I'd count on at least .5mph more speed--much more if you invest in an aero helmet, a tight skinsuit and aero wheels.

I would recommend having two complete bikes (road and tri) if you've got the budget to do so. Keep in mind that many parts that go on a tri bike are triathlon specific (saddle, possibly seatpost, possibly chain, handlebars, shifters, brake levers) so it would be cumbersome to try and transfer a road group to a tri bike.

you know, the nemesis looks aero enough. how heavy is it?

to be honest, you'd gain more speed by getting a disc rear wheel and deepdish front wheel...and an aero helmet. if you already have those...THEN get a new bike.
