I'm trying to pick between the Shimano NX-70 and DH-3D71 dynamo hubs, but I can't find much on the NX-70. Anybody out there have experience with it? Both are disc brake compatible, but I believe the DH-3D71 has less drag since it's more an Ultegra level product?
Any help most appreciated,
Steve

My impression is that the NX products are all of a lesser quality. They are Nexus, which is Shimano's comfort bike line of components.
Sturmey Archer also makes a dynohub that is worth checking out. There is a version with an internal drum brake. I'm not sure if they have a disc brake compatible version, however.
And of course there's the SON, if you can afford it.
71 is nicer and newer.
80 is even better.

The 80 needs to come out with a disc version. Then I'll buy it. Apparently it's really light compared to Schmidt SON.

I guess the main advantage of the NX-70 is that it is available in a 36h version, which as this is intended for an Xtracycle cargo bike is definitely a plus.
The other advantage is that my LBS has the NX-70 in stock and a decent wheelbuilder available, so I will probably end up going that route.
My wife has the N-30 on her bike and it's great, and it's supposed to be a real step down from the -70 and/or -71 so hey... it's all pretty good stuff I suspect ;)
Thanks for the replies,
Steve
