I'm going on a road trip to LA to knock on some doors for a job next week. I realized last night there's a velodrome like 1.5 hours away (Baton Rouge) and I was wondering if there's like a youthful fixed gear population down there. A velodrome is huge to me personally but if it's like bicycle heaven around there it would make a big impact on the company I decide to go with.

First, I know LSU has a cycling club because sometimes the dudes come down to NO for alley cats etc. So I know there are at least a few up there.

I'm down in New Orleans. There's a couple dozen or so FG/SS "regulars" who hang out and who put on the alley cats and other bike related stuff. We all range in age from like 20-35, which is youthful enough. There are a bunch of other people that show up places randomly that I don't see out as much; all of them seem chill and are fun to ride with. I really haven't run into any ****heads who ride down here, everyone is good people. In the last year (as expected with the growth of FG/SS) there have been a lot more activities here revolving around bikes. We even got our first bike lane a few months ago. Me and this other dude also just built a roller racing rig and demo'd it at a race this weekend. We're going to start doing that once or twice a month; should be fun.
