I'm in the Clarksville/South Boston, Virginia area on a regular basis and have been looking for some open trails. Anyone know of any. I know Danville and Raleigh/Durham have some but I hate burning up all that gas to go riding if I don't have to.

Thanks, Bob

Of course you could always visit:

SOUTH BOSTON
Basement Bicycles
511 Forest Dr.
S. Boston, VA 24592
804-517-0184

and ask then where to ride

There are some fun trails outside of Richmond at a park that I rode once.

I have a lot of family in South Boston and I really dont know if they have any ordained trails there. The whole place is farms and woods so you could pretty much find trails wherever you look. Just make sure you wear blaze orange so you don't get shot while your there.

Man is that place country though.

I'll take anything I can get. I found out Occoneechee State Park in Clarksville has @15 miles of bike/hike/horseback trails I'm going to check out. I understand there are some rail-trails in the area but they aren't on the Rails-To-Trails site.

There is a multiuse trail near Clarksville on the Lake, that the horses keep beat to death. I have forgotten the name.

Tar River Trails are 15 minutes south of Oxford NC, about an hour from South Boston. You will like Tar River.

Your other options are Richmond or Lynchburg.
