Okay, I did the advanced Spinerval video this am - 45 minutes, "No Slackers Allowed."

It is designed to push you beyond your anabolic threshold at times. It is a real workout for me.

It involves high speed cadences, a simulated 5K race, lots of standing whiile pedaling, and gear ratios with resistance from Big and Small Chain Ring/23 - 12, and very short rest periods. It is rated at 99% of max effort.

Okay, so my stats:

Did it all, but put an extra 2 minute break in the middle, as I felt I needed it.

Max HR (I am 64 yo) of 148 which I reached numerous times.

Kept above about 112 most of the time.

I recovered from 148 to 107 after 60 seconds of rest. My passive HR is 60.

Good amount of sweat.

Reached and held cadences of 130+ for several sessions.

Feel great, not tired after the workout. This time was easier than the last.

Any thoughts? Reactions? I would appreciate any thoughts, reactions, suggestions - good workout, bad, improvements?

Okay, I did the advanced spinerval workout again this am. 45 minutes of 85-100% effort. Heart rate kept at about 135-150.

It is easier and easier for me to do this, and I am increasing the resistance of the trainer a bit at a time.

I got my cadence up to 150 and kept it there, did a lot of standing under higher resistances (I have adjustable resistance from the bar) and felt like I was able to keep up somewhat with the racers in the video.

It feels really great to see improvement, especially when you are more "mature" in years!

<Later>

Also did a 3 mile speed walk with the wife and topped it off with a 20 mile hill "challenge" ride on the hills east of town. The "challenge" was "could I make it?" I did. :D

Impressive. I consider it a victory if I can drive all the way to the gym parking lot without talking myself out of it. Your determination and discipline are admirable. You Go, Sir!

well, I have the trainer set up in my basement, so no need to drive!

But, I also do the Lifecycle at the gym just for variety.

Thanks.
