As per my usual mode of doing things I put off making arrangements for the Death Ride until the last minute. Now I don't have anywhere to stay except my fairly uncomfortable car. My plan was to get a camp site, but there are none available at Grover Hot springs, and the rest are first come first serve... and since I'm driving up Friday... well you get the idea.

Anyway... I wanted to see if anyone would be willing to let me crash on their campsite, It's just me, my small tent and my car. I know that's a little weird, but I promise I'm relatively normal, and I keep the partying to a minimum. I'm there to do the ride, so I'll be tucked in early Friday night. I'll gladly split the cost for two days and will be more than willing to help with any food costs the campsite might accrue. I'm also a great cook and will help with heavy lifting/maintenance as those are the two things I'm decently good at.

Thanks for your time!

In the past, you can park/camp in Turtle Rock Park. I think it's closed this year due to construction. So if you get up there early enough on Friday, you will have to car camp along 89. There's plenty of room. Just bring some shade. I've been told that parking alongside Airport Rd is also a good spot too.

I've heard there are some camp sites at Markleeville creek or something... Any experience with that. Car camping huh? can I still bust out an easy up on the side of the road to chill and drink a beer under? And what's the atmosphere like after the ride? Do people hang out? Or does everyone escape back to their respective hiding spots to well... hide.

There is a State Park, but all the campgrounds have been reserved.
Yes, You can bust out an easy and sit with the pre-ride beer.
I'm not sure about the atmosphere after the ride. I was in the lot last year and took my time w/ many post ride snacks and drinks. I'm sure it will be the same on the road. It's pretty festive, after all, you and a lot of your new best friends just cranked out 137 miles & 15k worth of climbs.

I do not have any reservation either. I will plant my tent wherever I find a spot. All the campsites have been reserved long time ago.
