Hi all.
I will be getting a new frame soon, basically replacing my HT with a FR/DH friendly FS rig. My new frame is going to be 99% a Specialized Enduro SX, medium (17,5"). Most of my bike parts fit the new frame (eg. steerer tube etc...). However i am wondering what other things should i demand from the bike shop (who will do the buildup for free) and what things should i notice on the new frame before paying the cash? Eg. alignment of the frame...no scratches...etc etc. BTW it is a new frame.. and the shop used to say to me that they would do a trade in of my old frame and forks (Specialized Rockhopper 2003 19" HT and Manitou Axels).
Thats all folks.
Thanks in advance for the good advice.
PS. The breakdown of the new bike.
SX frame
XT discs, Goodridge lines.
XT rear mech, deore front/shifters.
RF Deus Stem 110mm
RF NorthShore (or Turbines) ISIS cranks
RF evolve FR or FSA platinum pro ISIS bb.
wheels from the old bike...Mavic X139 rims on Deore/Stout hubs.
Z1 2003 fork.

I think what your doing is SWEET!!!!!!! If the frame is new...then there isnt anything that you need to look for as far as alignment really. If the frame made it to the shop, usually it will be perfect. You could check it over for cracks and stuff before you ride it but I 100% doubt there will be any, and you could also look for any chips in the paint and small stuff like that, stuff that might lower the price a little. I cant wait to see it......this is something that I really wanted to do any still might do this year.
And if their doing a straight up trade ---- your frame and fork for the SX frame, then that is an awesome deal.

Thanks Klein. The SX costs 1200$ and they will deduct a maximum of 400$ for my rockhopper frame and Axel fork. I think it is worth the trade since with the extra money i ll get NorthShores or Turbines with ISIS bb :D

Sounds like it's going to be a good build up. The SX is a sweet frame. If I didn't go with a Kona Stuff frame, I would have gone with a SX.
So how are you math2p14?

Hey Math, you been working too much. Not spending enough time hanging out with us.
Your plans sound great. Finally you decided to step up to a full suspension bike. The SX sounds like a great choice, good price too!

Hey A2, well not too much work , i ve been rather busy having xmas holidays in Greece for a month :D:D:D. Happy new year by the way and best wishes to all. I am glad that another happy bikeforumyear enters!
Yes i ll be finally getting the SX and ditch the xc hardtails for good. In the future the plan is to finish my collection with a Demo9 and a P3 . But for now i need an all around hardcore bike and i believe the SX is the way to go. I wont wait for Xtype cranks/bbs and i ll stick to ISIS, with either the turbine or the northshores.

I'm trying to find a good deal on a pair of Turbine LP's myself! If I can find a set of used ones, I'll buy them.

Niiiiiiiiccccccsssssshhhhhhhh!
Yeah, I've got a couple bid's going right now on eBay. I'm looking to spend about $150 to $200. If I find a set of square tapers. (good enough for me), I don't need a bottom bracket (couple of spares already!).
If I decide to get ISIS, then that boosts my budget to the "NOT SURE RIGHT NOW" range.

Those are the Prodigy line. I can get those here for about $100 with a bb. No, I want to REAL LP's, 5-bolt and standard size!
Thanks though!

A2..these are not the prodigies...these are the turbinesLP sq taper 5arm CD. Check it out...there is only a small typo on the website concerning the description of the rings where the prodigy name is mentioned.
Strange though....better give them a call first...coz there is a small chance that they might be the OEM turbine version as seen in Kona bikes...but i doubt it coz chainreaction is the most well respected european bike shop..

This is a really good deal, but the rings are compact not standard. http://www.pricepoint.com/detail.htm?stylepkey=10951&detailName=Race%20Face%20Turbine%20LP%20ISIS%20Crankset%20w/%20SRX%20Bottom%20Bracket&style_id=135%20RACTB2%20KIT&dept_id=&deptName=&sub_id=&subName=&lprice=199.98&hprice=199.98

true...very good deal. Anyhow i am thinking of moving towards the Northshores...i reckon that they suit the character of the SX better.

If you want some indestructible cranks go with the ones found here: www.profileracing.com
The chromoly ones are what I have on my bike! BOMBPROOF! Problem is they are HEAVY!
