Texas - Bike friendly hotel in Irving area?

I'll be spending two weeks in Irving for my job in August. I want to take my bike, so I need a hotel that will allow me to store the bike in my room. Ideally, I'd like a hotel where the rooms have direct access to the outside so I wouldn't have to take my bike through the lobby. Any recommendations?

Well, I haven't tried it, but I would think just about any hotel/motel would let you take your bike to your room. What part of Irving will you be in? I can scout around over there (I work in Euless), but don't think it would be an issue.

Not sure about any specific hotels, but I've never had any issues taking bikes into La Quinta hotels. I even had to bring them up the elevator a few times, and never had any questions asked.

What part of Irving are you going to be in? That would make quite a difference. Irving covers a lot of distance.

A motel fits the bill for having direct outside access.

I don't think you will have a problem anywhere. I've had my bike in the Omni, the Westin Stonebriar, various Marriotts (incl. the one by the speedway), and many other hotels. Never had a problem.

Hey I was there this morning. Oh and every morning and evening I commute by bike :D If you see a yellow recumbent commuter that would be me.
Looks like alot of the hotels close by are on esters. I could go sneak a peak if you have an idea of which one you want to stay in. Google also has the area streetviewed so you can scout out the outside yourself if you like. If it is for work they might limit your choices quite a bit. Right in the area there is this DFW Airport loop that alot of riders go on so maybe you'll see a group ride.

Over by my work there are alot of those long stay places which all have external entry which would make it easiest for bikes but it might be a little too far from mesquite.

If we can get you past security you can maybe stack your bike on top of a pile of boxes in my cube. Or park it on a railing in the parking garage near mine.

We also have ping-pong and air-hockey tables (the perks of working in the creative department at a marketing firm). ;) They don't give us grief as long as the clients' work gets done.

In that thread you mentioned your Fuji Touring. It didn't make an impression on me then, but I just got one for Father's Day. I love this bike.

I practiced clipping out on my trainer and then went out into the neighborhood. I probably clipped in and out a couple of dozen times with no issues. As soon as I stopped in our driveway, with my wife sitting on the porch, I fell over. :o

In my experience, the crummier/cheaper the hotel/motel, the more likely they won't let you have it in the room. I for one love pushing my bike thru hotel lobbies, I did it almost every day last week.

Better to ask forgiveness, et cetera...

I'd figure if it can go as luggage in a plane, it can go in a motel room. There's were the public perception that it's Sporting Goods and not Transportation can be put to your advantage. But anyway, a first floor room opening directly to the outside would eliminate much of the concern.

I know that building I kept wondering if that CSC was the tour CSC. I think that is my 10-11 miles to go point depending on direction.

Awesome. I'm in the =WarDog= clan; screenname: Tarry_Stool (yes, just like bat poo).
It's a War Realism Mod (WRM) clan meaning you must sight your weapon and not shoot from the hip. No bunny hopping around to avoid getting shot and no nade spamming. It makes for a bit more relaxed type game. I get tired-head playing in the spray and pray servers.
