I just got this fellas......
Race permit for Thursday night races at Lorain County Motor Speedway has been amended. There is no race July 3. Starting July 10, in addition to the track events, there will be races for road bikes. The races are USCF sanctioned. You will race three times each night. Each race is reported seperately to Colorado Springs and counts toward rankings and upgrading. (in other words you can place three times per night. The road bike events are reported as "criteriums"
Entry fee is 12.00 the first night you race, 7.00 each subsequent night. You will get a permenant number for the series the first night you register.
Easy directions, Turnpike to RT 58, exit and go south, cross 113 and the entrance is on your right. It is a long gravel drive/dirt road under a black sign. If you get to the golf course you went too far.
Registration is 5:30 to 6:15 Riders meeting at 6:25 racing starts promptly at 6:30. Any questions call Tony at 216-533-6271

Gary,
Any idea what the RR's will be like? Will they be grouped by Cat's, ages, distance or what? I am assuming they will be on oval track. Sounds interesting and may give it a shot once I get back from vacation in Mid July.

No clue Bill. I posted everything I received on it. Since they said that they are turning in the finishes to USAC I assume that it has to be done by category to count.

I'm kinda in on this, but as for separating the groups, I think we'll wing it on the first night; see how many people come and what age/cat they are, and separate from there. We might just do an A/B/C type deal.

I am really interested in the races. I work within 4 miles of the venue and could go the the track right from work. I think both my boys and some of the Medina Bike Club guys will also want to get involved. I'll be on vacation the first week of the races and will follow up when I get back.
Mitch, any idea on the length of the races?

I went to college out there!
Chip... it's not as if there are hills anywhere outside of the racetrack either, so wouldn't everything be a flat crit?

It's whatever we feel like running, but they'll be more like points or tempo races on the track, less than 10 miles so three can be run per night. Also, on the race submission forms that Colorado Springs (USCF) gives us, race distance is not asked and isn't important. Everything has been run DIRECTLY in accordance with USCF, and my old coach Tony (running the show) has made very clear the race to officials on the phone.

We need to do a quick web-page on this.
Why don't you send me the information and I'll see what I can do.
Is it Tony as in Smith?

Was just thinking, maybe if we can get one or two of the local papers out to do a little human interest story about this and the push to build a velodrome. Might snag a rider or two out of it. What ya think??

I have been on vacation the past week. Was there a road bike race on the 10th? If so how many riders were entered? I would like to race this week if possible and could probably bring a couple of others.

It was a pretty good turnout on Thursday. I've gotten burnt out, so I'm taking a week off or so. Plus, I've burned through another set of Pro3's, so I need to get some new tires, but I need to save money.

Burned up your tires due to excessive speed? I envy you! I burn up my tires due to weighing 190lbs.
