I had spent a lot of time when I should have been getting work done running around chasing down parts for my new build. I really wanted to get it together this week before the money runs out : (.
I started the build by touching up a Peugout I had laying around. But usual whacky me it turned into a hard core SF messenger Cloud bike complete with fixed gear and no brakes…(Brakes today) I love the bike!
In pursuit of parts I was coming back on Washington and Geough on my KHS when a driver pulled a no signal turn in front of me just as I was breaking a track stand and not well balanced. I did a drop fall directly on my hip and head. F*** that hurt. I couldn’t walk but can ride! One of those weird injury’s. I was sure I broke my hip. Owwie.
So anyway after a stressful work week I managed to spend too much time and money finishing my first fixie build. I think I had average 2 hrs of sleep at night. Last night I was so out of it Cathy had to take my clothes of and put the blankets over me! I don’t even remember. Like being drunk without alcohol. She told me this morning she’s glad we don’t have kids, she’s exhausted with me ! : )
So my first ride was from Nob hill to Sportsbasement to get brakes on a fixed setup and no brakes. Scary at first and my hip was killing me but it was exciting and I’m hooked, but I’m still putting brakes on though. On the way home I was torqueing it up Polk street
(I had put an old chain on to just try before I used a new chain) and the chain snapped and my bad leg hit the steet. The pain went right through me. I couldn’t walk or ride so I had to take a cab. BTW the cab driver was frigging crazy. He was screaming about everything. Really obnoxious, talking how he’d come back and take out all the Indians, Chinese, and privileged Americans! I was in genuine pain and I just wanted to get home. Man! I thought I was nuts…Jeeeeshhh!
Paint job is ok for a first but really rushed, so from 4ft it looks great. Nice feel for steel frame. I really enjoyed working on the bike and pretty happy with the ride. I need to get on Ebay and sell some guitars to finance my next bike.
I’m kind of resting today although I have to paint all day. Different muscle groups. See ya Sunday.
