4's, hoping to get my mojo back after a dumb injury. So far 0 for 1 (Burlingame).
Alas, if I stilled lived in Sac I would race E4. NorCal race scene rules...

Raced in the fives.
My first race. Had a few team mates there (UC Davis) but I started on the back of the pack. Never really latched on, I need to work on the corners. Ended up getting spat off the back after 3 or 4 laps.
Could have been better, I just got back from vacation Monday. However, the legs felt good and I thought I warmed up well. In the end it was a learning experience.

well if you start training with us, you'll certainly get better :P
anyhow, i was in the 5's.. lot of idiots braking in the corners (i dont understand why... i was pedaling through the corners).. kinda was in the middle of the pack the whole time.. started moving up once we heard a count on the number of laps left. second to last lap a guy blew a tube on the right hander and took out a few people. i was behind it but cut inside and started sprinting to make up the gap. closed the gap early on the last lap but couldnt move up until the final stretch where i caught 3-4 people on a sprint. apparently another person blew a tube on the last corner of the last lap too. if you look at hcphoto's pictures of the finish, you can see me rounding the corner as they are coming up to the line XD

Fifth in the Masters 4, 19th or so in the E4 but got a prime (lunch for 2 at one of my favorite Mexican places).
I'd planned to tailgun it in the M4s as it was the first race but I had a teammate who was feeling good and so I tried to spend a lot of time up front. That was a good plan since there were a few crashes in the back. The Davis guys had a train of 4 going into the last lap, I tried to get up as far as I could to them but only got to 10 back at the last corner. Ended up passing a few guys on the finishing stretch to get 5th. Nice to get some upgrade points!
Then over to the kids' parade to meet my wife, kids, and my mom. Hung out at the park for awhile until my second race. In the E4s, I was a little tired. Not too bad, but I didn't think I'd have enough gas for a big finishing sprint, so I decided to go for one of the last primes. I was really hoping it would be saddle (one guy in the M4 race got a new Toupe). I decided to go really early: on the straight after the right hander I hopped to the front and then got out of the saddle and dug hard all the way from the Varsity Theater.
But the best prize of all was riding alongside my 4-year old daughter in the kids' ride. Her brother is gung-ho, but she's been a little shy about riding her bike. I think having one of her girlfriends along with her was the big motivating factor. Peer pressure can be a positive force. Afterwards she said "I went all the way by myself, Daddy! And you didn't even have to hold my seat!"
Great day in Davis.
