Dear Shimano,

Ever since mountain bikes came painted in neon colors and 7 speeds were all it took to make a bike fast, I have been a loyal and faithful customer. XT, LX, Deore... I have loved them all. In the last year I have had a change of heart. I promise it's not you, it's me. You have done nothing wrong; I have just grown apart. It all started last year when I swapped you out on my hardtail for a x.9 combo. It just shifted fast and confidently. I liked it so much, I transferred it over to my FS which I ride more often. This summer I found a killer deal on another x.9 combo and installed it on my hardtail. I am in love with another drivetrain.

Don't worry, we can still be friends- my full Ultegra road bike will remain under your label (even though it's true I have rode it 3 times this year). And also your pedal are great.

Regretfully,

G. Monkey

I love SRAM components in the MTB world. So much that I would have gone SRAM on my new road bike the budget permitted, but stuck with Shimano for price ;)

I love SRAM too. I have 9.0SL on my Cove- it was so faster than the brand new XT/LX mix on my Fisher. I'm sticking some x.0 grip shifters on there soon- those things look amazing.

This is a PG-13 forum. I won't go there.

The bike I have now (1-1/2 years old and going strong) has no shim on it at all...just the way I want it. I have completely fallen out of love with the brand; the only shim I will allow on any future bike would be XTR cables and one of the front derailleurs.

SRAM rocks!
