My friend is looking to get rid of his 2001 Kona Stinky Deluxe. I rode it the other day and it seemed sturdy and reliable.
I would like to purchase it but don't know what a reasonable price would be. Does anyone have any suggestions?
heres a link to the MTBR review done for the bike

It's a relic. :innocent:
Just kidding.
Whats he asking?
What components are on it?
How did he ride it? Seeing as you are friends you should know if he has beaten on it.
You can get a NEW '07 Stinky for 1300, much better bike unless you do a lot of climbing.
Other then the coil shock, the DAWG is a re-badged, old model Stinky, you could get a new one for 1400 or last years for around 1000, maybe even 900.
With all that being said I would say no more then 400$ USD, if he is a good friend he should sell it to ya for 275. Yes, I am serious.
It does deoend on the components as well but eben if he has full XTR or X.0 on their I would still say no more the 500 for an '01.

Thankyou very much. I've decided that I'm not going to buy it, it just doesn't make much sense to buy a 7 year old bike.
Do you have any suggestions for a good entry level downhill bike? you probably hate that question...
How much do you want to spend?

Well, I want to buy used to cut down on costs.
I really want to find a good bike for under $1000 but if it was an opportunity that I couldn't pass up I'd be willing to shell out $1250.
Wow 2nd hand bikes sound cheap over the pond.

Well, a little bit of SPAM for a friend of mine who was sponsored and manager for Chumba ...
I could get you this custom made F4 for 1460 but it would be way oout of yer price range since you still need a few parts

Other then that, are you really going to do DH or more freeriding?
Where in Cali are? I know a few riders with extra bikes they want to sell.

Oh yeah, For the price it is a decent bike to get you into the sport but it is not the best DH and not the best freerider but for 1100 you can get an '05 Giant Faith brand new at WheelWorld. Not the best shop but they do have some good deals.

Have you ever heard of Santa Cruz or the trails at UCSC? That's where I do most of my riding. It's a lot of downhill with some other trails that take you to the top but they suck to ride up.
Right now I have a 07 specialized hardrock but broke the POS fork. I'm going to get it fixed and sell it for funds that would help me get a new better bike.
