Hi everyone! I think that I am probably the odd one out here.

Hail from Singapore which is hot and humid all year round and rained the whole day today, so I couln't go out and cycle. Bummer!

I started out as on MTB, but Singapore being what it is - an urban city state, there are few wild areas to go, much less mountains unless you go across to Malaysia - which is a hassle!

So now I am a roadie most of the time, although I still have my Ellsworth Truth and a Litespeed Tellico built up as a hybrid.

These get much less use than my current fav ride - a Pinarello Dogma. Having owned a DeRosa King, Fondriest Top Carbon TF1 and now the Dogma, I'd never thought I would move from thinking carbon fibre was king and now, I think Magnesium is King!!

But of course that's an oversimplification because the geometries are subtlely, but significantly different. But all I have to say is that the ride has to be experienced to be believed!

I am new to this forum, usually frequenting RBR, but hope this is the beginning of a long stay!

I looooove Singapore! It's a beautiful country, and the people are nice.... plus it's clean. Welcome!

You'll want to drop Oxologic an email- he's also in Singapore and does a lot of racing out there, especially for running, but he has a big interest in cycling too.

Dood, get out there and ride! Think about it- it's going to be about -20 C in Chicago here by Wednesday morning, and there still are some toughies out here suffering in the cold. You got nothing on us... nothing! :D

Get out there and ride ride ride that beautiful bike of yours!

Koffee

... for the welcome guys!!

Funnily enough I have yet to take phots when riding, since I hate having things dangling around me. But I think I'll try and do that.

Rain here is usually a Monsoon (North East at this time of year!) and can bring torrential horizontal rain. I know it will not beat the cold in Chicago, but after having some recent crashes here - my last on the first day of my Dogma ownership (ouch!) I am a little hesistant on wet roads - especially since traffic can be heavy most times (except sundays).

Will contribute posts when I can and will definitely look up Oxologic, the other Singapore dude!

Hey mycroft! Welcome to the forums from a fellow Asia rider. Also, welcome to the world of road riding; I understand where you're coming from riding in an urban sprawl of 20+ million people. There's a bunch of us here in Tokyo always keeping our eyes out for wide open cycling roads. The Pinarello sounds like a sweet ride. Look forward to your posts. We ride when it's hot, we ride when it's cold and dark, it doesn't matter, we just ride :D ! Happy riding!

,,, Rjtokyo!! Thanks for the welcome! While it gets a little hairy at times in singapore, I cant imagine riding in Tokyo traffic!!

But of course, you may the luxury to venture out of the city into some very spectacular Japanese countryside!!

I visit Tokyo every now and then on business trips, but not as often as some of the other countries. Great place, but too expensive for my feeble income!
