Disc brakes on a Sun EZ-1 SX

Does anyone have exerience with putting disc brakes on an EZ-1 SX? The reason I as is for braking once I get the hub motor added on.

I would like to have the rear have the disc brakes and front if it would fit with the front hub motor.

Or does this seem like overkill? I'm 275 and the 12Ah batteries plus a change of clothes will only add to the the trouble I will have stopping. No hills on my ride except for an overpass that I ride over.

I have an ecospeed electric motor on my EZ-1 AX and I haul trailers with construction tools and haven't found the need for disc brakes. Of course, when I am heavily loaded I go a lot slower for safety reasons. I weigh 200lbs and haul my 50 lb dog in a trailer at speed and haven't noticed a problem.

Disk brakes are good for very wet/dirty conditions. If you don't anticipate riding often in winter, rainstorms, or muddy singletrack, good v-brakes can output excellent stopping power. Better ones will continue to do so up until the most extreme conditions, which is where disk brakes shine. My Xtracycle has one disk brake, one v-brake - both work exceptionally well, alone or as a pair, even stopping 400lbs from 40kph. V-brakes still get used on tandems, after all = )

On my experience with disk brake motors, I attempted to fit one to my Xtracycle - the width of the motor makes this a difficult task, both from the width of the axle and the difficulty in having the caliper clear the side of the motor - neither worked out, so the disk motor stayed behind. eZee may be just about the only motor kit I can think of that will give you a front disk option. An eZee would require some tweaking to work on the tiny front wheel of the Ez-1, it would be too slow as a stock option, and others like Crystalyte don't have a front disk offering, although there could always be more motors out there.

Does the EZ-1 have disk mounts? I'm looking at it online and there doesn't seem to be any mention of them, just curious.

I am curious is a special set of Forks that had the front disc mounts would be an easy way to let my bike take an easy step to disc brakes... but it doesnt sound like a big deal at this time
