I am going to be in the Seattle area for business the first two weeks of August and want to rent a road bike to keep the fitness level up. Is Monlake Bicycle OK to rent from and are there any shop rides on the east side? I am going to be in Bothell the first week and downtown Seattle the second, if that helps.

Thanks,

Jake

Jake, check out Bothell Ski and Bike while you're in that neighborhood. I believe they still do rentals and they're a pretty nice shop. They sit right of the burke-gilman trail too that will provide you some nice riding in either direction over to the U-district or down into Redmond.

I've only been to Montlake Bike once... they have another store in Kirkland as well, but the main store is across 520 from UW. It's a reputable shop that's been around a long time.

As far as rides you'll have to wait for someone else to chime in. I don't know of any shop rides, but you can go on one of the Cascade bike club rides if you can find one to fit your schedule.

The Montlake Bike Shop is very reputable. And, you can rent some fairly high-end stuff. If you are a weight wienie, or otherwise particular about the kind of road bike you ride, this might be the place to go. I would have no qualms about renting from them. Just be sure to understand the fine print...something happens to the bike, it's yours, period. I know nothing about the Bothell Ski and Bike.

Bothell Ski and Bike is a great shop with knowledgable staff, I do believe they still do rentals.

Cascade has plenty of rides, check it out HERE! (http://www.cascade.org/EandR/Activities_Calendar.cfm?query=cascadefreedailyride)
