Road Cycling - bibs and long sleeve

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I decided to try bibs and want to know if you are also wearing a long sleeve under a short sleeve jersey, does the long sleeve go over or under the bibs? thanks

If it is cold enough I will wear a coolmax type shirt under my bibs with a short sleeve jersey and also my arm warmers if it is real cold. But most of the time it is my bibs then my short sleeve jersey over them.
I would personally make sure all layers apart from the last one goes under the bibs, so that if "nature" calls you only have one layer to remove!
Will all become clear when you out in the cold and your having to remove most of your clothing for a quick stop.
Hope this helps.

Don't you mean bibs and a sleeveless jersey? ;)
How cold does it get there?
Any layers you are not planning on removing as you warm up (like a base layer shirt) go under the bibs. Everything else goes on top of the bibs.

Vests under bibs , shirts over .
Rule one : keep warm
Rule two : keep warm
rule three : etc.
Personally I use short sleeve plus armwarmers and cycle tights , then add a wind proof waistcoat ( gillet ? ) if that isn´t enough before going to long sleeve with or with out waistcoat and gloves as the temp falls .
But ALWAYS use an under layer ( or two ) that´s wicking .
Wicking undershirt, bibs and then jersey if it isn't too cold.
As the temperature drops I add layors as follows: longsleeved base layor (over t-shirt and bibs, arm warmers under that if it is getting cold. Short sleved jersey and then my windproof shell. Leg warmers if it is cool, but not too cool. If colder, I use windfront tights (padless) over my bibs etc. when really cold I put leg warmers on and then the tights. Booties for colder days. When it gets really cold I use a polortec jersy over all this (usually take off arm warmers) and then the shell.
As you can tell, it gets cold around here!! When the temperature drops below 40 I go inside except for team training rides and practices where I will suffer the elements if it stays above freezing.
